Signed up for cheaper mobile deal with BT so £9 a month saving there plus the £45 Amazon voucher, handy with Christmas on the way and far flung relatives. More surveys done today so feeling a lot more positive. Decided to do a car boot soon to declutter more rubbish we've been hoarding for too long, therapeutic clearing out all the guff.
Advice needed on whether to have a £500 or £1000 emergency fund moving forward as things are potentially going to be very tight. Have a credit union account which will have £600 in by Tuesday but don't know whether to leave it at that, build it up or keep it at £500 and use the £100 towards a debt - answers on a postcard pleaseMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Could you pay an emergency bill by credit card if you have to? If you couldn't raise any credit at all then I would go with the £1000 .My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

We could at the moment but realistically need to ditch the CC as soon as we can. Can use part of redundancy money to close it down then it's getting cut up.
£12 cut from DHs mobile phone monthly costs this morning and he's off to join the library because they lend out magazines and have e-comics, both of which are his favourite things! This way he can get loads for freeMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Cheap day doing lots of garage clearing, apart from a pressie for a birthday party DS went to. £7 in from selling 2 books, ones I'll never read anyway and a few more surveys done. Need to get myself more organised next week so I know exactly what's coming in and make sure it goes to emergency fund or to pay something off. Danger of it coming in in dribs and drabs that it just gets used upMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Re your emergency fund some people set it at an aim of say 1000 some for say 1500 only you can decide. I would consider the following if say the most expensive item in your house broke what's the max it is going to cost. Ie a new boiler 1500-2000 or say an expensive car mot 500-750Cashback Earnings YTD £46.04 Survey Earnings YTD £182.66

That's really useful, we've been in this house 10 years so things are at the breaking stage and we both have second hand cars so I feel like £1200 would be good. From experience these things always happen in twos or three's!
£32.71 made from surveys and selling stuff this week so flinging that in credit union tomorrow along with £8 from the pennies jar - off to update signature👍Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Spent 30p on seem cheap juice for a church event and helped DS spend £30 on a Wii u game he's saved up pocket money for from Nan and Pops. Eating up food we've already got in so pulled pork burgers & HM chips for tea.
Hardly any surveys around today so just relaxed, knitted and decluttered some small drawers crammed full of stationery, ridiculous amounts of pens and pencils!Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Not managed much today in terms of creating money, but another NSD and eating from what we've got in. Lasagne and meatballs for DS who hates lasagne, followed by homemade apple pie and custard. Pay day tomorrow so lots of money shuffling and planning ahead to do.
Hopefully getting all my personal belongings back from work this week or next, then a bank holiday car boot is in order I think.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Well a lazier day than intended as I've had an allergic reaction to some face cream and resemble a scaly beetroot, not a good look. A few more surveys done and a bit of tidying but tomorrow should be better.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
