Credit cards, prestige and snobbery

I don't know where you all shop but I'm one of those shallow individuals who has a Natwest Black Card and am not afraid to admit I got it for the colour as much as the extras.
Great - lots of shop assistants attention, lots of quiet conversations in the corner, restaurant owners not spitting in my food etc.
And the effect - absolutely nothing. In hotels, restaurants, shops, the card is whipped out and I always, without fail, get absolutely no reaction whatsoever. I think that - because there are so many credit cards out there of various colours, people don't know or just don't care.
So moral is that unless you are overseas - the colour of your card appears to have no effect - in my experience.0 -
My sister is snob. We suggested that she gets Egg Money as they have a cashback and she spends loads on credit cards while paying off in full every month. And she said "yeah, I know, but paying with Egg card?" (she has got NatWest purple with big gold PRIVATE written on it).
While I have Tesco card with strawberies for collecting Tesco points on household spend (she actually thinks this one is cute) and bright pink Halifax for 0% interest on purchases. And I will go for the best deal again.0 -

I'm amazed that you ever thought they might care!Stompa0 -
Actually, the hotels thing? My ex-bf had a Barclaycard Gold Visa (ridiculous - he was 21 years old and an apprentice electrician but he earned stupid money) and we were staying in a hotel once and the minute the receptionist spotted it she said 'oh you've been upgraded' so I think it can make a difference....
My credit card is nasty. Its bright orange with a picture of a plane on the front cos it's an EasyJet branded one, and I must admit I've had people looking at it bemused, wondering what on earth it is.... but when I had a Solo card I used to find that I got some snobby shop assistants looking down on me! I used to work in shops and a hotel and saw loads of platinum cards and a couple of Coutts cards and it made not a jot of difference to me, but I must admit I wish I had a platinum or gold card or something cos it would look better than the card I've got!!!!!!!!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
