comping definitely! - win stuff for your cat, save yourself loads of money,
Which reminds me that about 25 years ago my cat won a supermarket trolley dash:eek::rotfl:. It was long before social media, no comps were on the internet (hardly anyone had a computer in 1992) and it was application by entry form. It was one application per person NOT per household and I entered once for myself and was wanting to enter for OH but in his usual 'helpful' manner he refused point blank:(. It was for a newly-opening supermarket in a town about 20 miles from here and I sent the second entry on behalf of the cat that I had then.
I couldn't believe it a few weeks later when they phoned and asked to speak to her about an exciting prize:eek:. Luckily the cat had a human female name not Fluffy or Cuddles or anything like that:rotfl:. The rules said the prize was 'non transferrable' so I had to pretend I was her.
There was a photoshoot and everything, lots of coverage in the local paper. I just had to hope no-one who knew me saw it. It was a nightmare from start to finish. I don't know how I managed to have the guts to keep up the pretence. People kept referring to me by the cat's name and sometimes I didn't respond straight away. It was bizarre.
It taught me a lesson though and I never did it again although I have sneakily entered comps in OH's name without him knowing. I just thought he'd be willing to accept the prize if he won, he'd never turn down anything that was free;). There was one awkward moment when a car parts chain phoned him to invite him to a prizegiving for the top of the range alloy wheels 'he'd' won and he hadn't a clue what they were on about:rotfl:. Good job I was in the room and could mouth what he needed to say to them.0 -

You are the best type of comper! Here's to lots more wins and lots more stories :A0 -
Got sidetracked there talking about the cat's prize:rotfl:. Really dropped in to report a win of £25 on the Air Ambulance monthly draw. Have also done a Pinecone survey but am still having probs with my account and can't seem to access the rewards page to claim my money even though I've had an email to say it is in my Pinecone account. Have emailed Karen and hope I get some satisfaction soon.
I also started a PA study that I received a rare invitation for. It was a 50 minute one for £4.50 which would have been great but there were gremlins in the system and I couldn't expand the page with the tasks on and couldn't find a way of manipulating the items on the page. It involved sizing segments on pie charts amongst other things. Also, the subject was very weird and I couldn't get my brain into the way of thinking that they wanted. I reluctantly returned it unfinished after about 10 minutes. Even if it worked perfectly I wouldn't want to do it. Life's too short for the hassle IMO0 -

I don't enter many comps now it's all online and social media:o. I used to like the fun of tracking down entry forms and having to buy qualifiers. I used to go to such trouble to track down the elusive, potentially low-entry ones. I also liked the slogan and other task comps. Nowadays it's just a simple click or answer the most stupid multiple choice question. There are so many more people entering now. On the other hand, I suppose there are millions more comps to enter.0 -
Are you usually up this late, Aesop? It's very unusual for me but I've got toothache:(. I'm not a night owl at all and am usually up at 6 every morning without fail. I doubt I will be tomorrow though, although the way things are going I might not even have been to sleep at all:eek:0

Yes by the time my boys go to bed, this becomes my time, after 9pm and I usually find myself still struggling to get things done before midnight.
Going bed now
And I get up early because of DH so will be up around 5,30am.
Sorryto hear you have toothache, worst thing in the world.0 -

Not everything is online,. There are still purchase comps for qualifying and lots of those. And creative comps which not as many people enter. And as always local comps that people aren't aware of

Yes, I know, it's me. I just can't get motivated now:o. I'm living in the past really, harking back to the good old days of comping. I tend to enter local comps more than any 'big' ones now and have had some success but in general I don't do a fraction of the comps that I used to do. It was an obsession not just a hobby at one time:o
I know you're pretty lucky with your wins:beer:. I think you enter a lot more on social media though whilst I enter none that way.
Right, time for another painkiller and a cup of tea.

It was tripe, chicken feet, intestines, octopus, ostrich -never again! I know the owner through work and he put on Facebook he wanted testers - I thought it's something different so I was in there. 🤣
It was six men and me! A fun night and my favourite was the ostrich and frogs' legs 😱0 -
