Butternut squash falafels sound great, SA, and so does the bath board. Might be a handy way to use my birthday money to come from MIL.

I now need to look through the last few posts and make a list of cookbooks to hunt down. Mine are mainly for reading, too. :) DS1 bought me an early-ish copy of Mrs Beeton's All About Cookery once.

One less gadget on our worktop tonight - the coffee maker has given up the ghost. It was only a simple £15 machine, but I thought it would last longer than 8 months. Had come close to throwing out my plastic filter holder and glass coffee pot - now I'm glad I didn't.

Greenbee, George wants me to sit down, the others want me to do things or they to sit next to her, which is clearly unacceptable. Cat politics are complicated.

George is right. Listen to her. Ignore the others...

EIGHT months? That's appalling - not fit for purpose I'd say! Glad you kept the old bits!

  • MrsChaos, that's very poor performance on the coffee maker. We keep a manual espresso maker for emergencies and holidays. I am the first to admit to having a minor coffee problem, which would become a major personality defect in the absence of the machine.

We don't go through a lot of coffee at home - OH always has it when he's out of the house, so sticks to tea when he's in. I usually have just one mug (doesn't agree with me if I have too much) and the boys are the same, so the manual method could work. I really fancy a stove top espresso maker for weekends and holidays, but they're not so cheap for induction hobs. The worktop space is nice...
  • i stick with my cafetiere that i hate cleaning. anything nicer or handier to use could result in a major increase in caffeine intake

  • Proper bean to cup coffee machine here, double espresso. Press the button and drink. Glorious. It was my Christmas present 4 years ago and it is probably my most used thing ever. I have bought a years worth of beans by the kilo in France for the last few years so cheaper to run than a capsule based system, and it keeps me from buying over priced costalot coffee.

Working from home tomorrow, hope its a bit warmer.
  • One day I'll have a bean to coffee machine too :)
