  • I daren't even think of the kitchen gadgets I have - it's ridiculous for someone currently running around so much I live on M&S meals and cheese on toast. Though they don't include a slow cooker, which would probably be the most useful option for a 9-5(ish)-er ... might put that on my Christmas list :)

  • I did get rid of some kitchen gadgets a few years ago that we NEVER used as we just don't have space for them, including an electric steamer and a sandwich maker. I have no regrets at all :).

But we do have a bread maker and a blender gathering dust atm . The only gadget that actually gets used, apart from the kettle and toaster, is DH's beloved mini chopper for onions, etc.

  • Another one here with a small kitchen and no room for lots of electrical gadgets. Just blender, kettle and toaster out on the tops - stick blender, hand whisk and mini-processor in the cupboard. Crock pot on the floor hiding next to the bin! To be honest I don’t think I need any more anyway!

It's interesting which gadgets some of us use and the ones we don't. I use my steamer every day and would never cook my veg any other way. The slow cooker gets used a lot too as does the electric can opener due to me being rubbish with manual tin openers. I got rid of the gadgets I don't use (like the bread maker) when we got the new kitchen.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • I put everything away when my kitchen got done, five years ago, and some of it still hasn't come back out.

Struggling a bit with aches so tried to do less today. I'm not very good at doing nothing, and the minute I sit down cats and children appear out of nowhere and demand food/exit/fire on. Some clearing done, but the kitchen is still cluttered and messy. DW is on so at least I wont be coming down to a mess.

OH fixed the shower (pull switch had failed), and the back hall door handle (dog damage) so some productive work done.

Legal paperwork posted. Nice out in the sunshine, even if it was a bit cold.

Lazy easy dinner, got some huge (wonky?! so £1 for 2.5kg) marfonia in MrM yesterday which made really lovely jacket potatoes with some beef casserole from the freezer.

Cumbria, I always read in the bath. Nightly ritual, although finding something to read is the tricky bit. I own thousands of books, don't mind re-reading after a few years but I still Have Nothing To Read. I remain very grateful to the local hospice shop which does 50p fiction.

I thought cats demanded that you sit down and keep still?

I'm also running short of books... need to create a new wishlist for the library. And I'll have to buy a couple on Tuesday to read on the plane and leave with friends.

I read library books in the bath. As long as I don't drop them, no one will know...

It indicates a sorry state of affairs that I haven't read in the bath for a very long time, other than catching up on messages. Things need to change around here, especially since I don't use the time more productively.
  • Another bath reader here! :o Only ever dropped one once...

Grabbed 2 paperbacks from the charity bookshelf in T's earlier - I throw 50p per book into the tin as that's what our hospice shop does them for as well. Mum and I recycle charity shop books between us before sending them back from whence they came - pretty sound way of donating to charity as far as we're concerned!

Back to gadgets - one thing i DO want is one of those nifty electrical spice grinders like Rick Stein used on his India programme - I'd find room for that!

  • I'm a bed reader not a bath reader :). I always shower rather than bath and I don't think reading in the shower would be too successful :rotfl:.

I know what you mean about DC and cats demanding things, only with me it's DC and a rabbit :D.
