milk, onion studded with cloves and a bay leaf in a small pan, bring it up to a simmer and turn it off. Let it steep for a few hours, the longer the better. Sieve out the stuff so you just have the flavoured milk then bring it back to warm. Add a generous walnut of butter, and some cubes of good crust less bread (NOT cheap toast bread) and heat gently, stirring, till it's nice and thick, gently warming. Add a dash of cream and black pepper. Just glorious. It works with nasty GF bread but I'd rather have a small portion and stomach ache.Fabulous to be able to use home grown celeriac too - well done you, and I absolutely don’t blame you for being excited about it either!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

The celeriac was lovely, cut into cubes and roasted.
today we had visitors and the inevitable beige banquet. I did do salad sides, and sliced melon. I made a suitably GF chocolate roulade and I'm hoping it'll freeze in slices.Mr Redo wanted to spend some of his gift money on some walking kit, and I was seduced by a £10 off a £50 ee by gum bay voucher which meant I could add three not cashmere fingerless gloves to his £30 order and spent £15 of my fritter money.
I also ordered two longline hoodies for ladder holding, and general outdoor slavery purposes. At £12 each (inc postage, mat a lan) then I can rip, paint, and ruin them in the general pursuit of home improvement. The other 'sale' fritter was on Emma hardie cleansing balm.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Good frittering there. Hoodies - and particularly the longer ones - are brilliant for outdoor stuff I find - the huge front pocket will take all the plant ties, garden/work gloves/screwdrivers or whatever that one is required to hold while also trying to do other jobs!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Cracked and spent £2.29 of my fritter money on Charles Dowding veg journal on kindle. Couldn't find it to borrow for free. My 'fritter' money is gifted money, cash back and survey funds. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thanks everyone. Funny week with a lot of mental adjustment to not being at work.
a few hours outside trimming a few things and filling one of the green waste bins. Nice to get some sunshine even if it was very cold.Sunday lunch made, and a timely reminder that roast onions and yorkshire pudding are pennies but add much value, and that monster carrots are much nicer chunked and roasted. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
