Not the best nights sleep ever and was shaky after school run so decided against the blue place. I do have a couple of specific things to get so its not trailing round the whole shop which is indeed hell Seaside but not as bad if you get there at opening time on a week day.
Its far too cold to be in the garden greenbee! I've got my thermals on,my new (itchy) merino jumper and my very fetching bag lady fingerless gloves.
INOD - I think it was a first for me too . Had nothing but 4s for weeks.
Need to head out and get milk, lentils, F&V in a bit, but will leave main shop till Monday.
Chased the bank - paperwork is still in queue for document review team, don't chase they are busy. Then update the online thing to say documents received so I wouldn't be worrying that they have gone missing when the SVR is about to go up. I'm alright thanks - just need to slow down.
I did a small food shop, and timed it right for that rare and wonderful thing of reduced lamb steaks (on offer and then half priced).
Used some to make a simple bung it in lamb and lentil curry. Froze the rest.
Lamb cubes (600g in my case)
Onions - chopped 500g
Half a tub of plain yoghurt
oil
chilli, garlic, ginger (rajah frozen blocks - one of each for me)
spices (turmeric, cumin, coriander, cardamon, cinnamon stick, peppercorns, cumin seed, etc - or just some curry powder if that's what you have)
Salt
300ml water
Tip it all into a lidded casserole dish, bring it up to the boil, then lid on and low simmer for a couple of hours. Check the lamb is tender. Add enough lentils to absorb the liquid - add more liquid if need be. 25 minutes till the lentils are cooked through, stirring every so often.
Blasted cat (who is usually my favourite one) bounced on my laptop and has broken a key. Twice in two days. I fixed the first one but this time she has snapped the clips so will need to order one. V annoying. Should not have ignored her request to put the heating on.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

We ignore cat demands at our peril redo- they’re dear little things but quite determined when they want something. 😼:rotfl:

I'm doing a curry with YS lamb and a root veggie pack tomorrow. I think I'll copy you with the lentils as they will thicken the sauce. YumIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

:hello:
I found your diary and (speed) read my way through it tonight. Lots of inspiration in more than one respect. A disagreement with OH left me disinclined to do anything more productive, although I'll regret it tomorrow when there will be too much left to do.
Could you post a recipe/method for the sausage, pumpkin, lentil thing you mentioned? We didn't 'do' Halloween this year, but I bought a cheap pumpkin from Lidl for cooking. I want to make soup (pumpkin, onion, red pepper and sweet potato), but there's too much pumpkin for just one recipe, even though it's small.
I'm going to keep sticking my head around the corner when I get the chance, but will leave my own diary where it is, now that I've resurrected it.0 -
:hello: Mrschaos I posted the recipe on one of my earliest diaries but that disappeared when the forums there got reinvented a few years ago, and I couldn't find it when I looked earlier in the week. I do have it on paper somewhere but gave up looking for it. I added a few cubes of our pumpkin to something and it was fairly tasteless so I gave up on mine. I hope my diary in the other place re-appears but will visit yours when I can anyway.
DIA the lentlls transformed mine - it wasn't looking too promising up till then.
Seaside, madam in question is one of six, but is undeniably in charge in the house. She likes to sleep on the boiler, and has been known to scrabble at the box till it switches on so now I keep the door shut. She spent most of yesterday snoring in front of the wood burner so a win for her.
Worlds smallest lamb joint out ready for cooking later, and some bread rising too. Must make buns for DS2, and think about packed lunch stuff.
Our Lidl hasn't had any yeast for at least six weeks - is it just mine or have they discontinued it? I am on the last sachet so will have to crack and buy some elsewhere. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I hope so, too.
Re the yeast, I'll send you some if you can message me your address securely. Have way too much and rarely use any. I hate to throw stuff out.0
