Well done on the veg plot. My small raised bed has some perpetual spinach and chard growing in it, along with a lot of self-seeded lambs' lettuce. The big bed has been topped up with compost so needs something sowing in it, as do the planters. I've cleaned the greenhouse too, so can make a proper start when I'm back from my next work trip.

Made me laugh, but also a bit sad that so many people were comparing themselves to her apparently hugely high standards and feeling they "weren't doing it right" when actually it clearly wasn't all as it seemed. Also a good reminder that what people portray on social media often is just the "highlight reel" rather than any sort of reflection of reality.
I did "Frugal february" on my blog for a few years. After completing the posts summarising one year's effort I was contacted by someone asking me "how much did you really spend though?" because they assumed my quoted figures were leaving stuff out to make it look better. Nope - absolutely not, all truthful, but I found it quite worrying that there was such a level of cynicism out there - strangely enough I think now most people need more cynicism around socials, not less!
As for seeds, sowing and growing stuff - nuffin, we've got nuffin here I tell you.(But there WILL be gooseberries - thousands of them if last year's anything to go by!)

I wonder if it's the same frugal queen as the one in France I watch doesn't seem to do the things you say. Maybe I just don't notice as I take the advice I want and leave the other.Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

Out of curiosity I looked up Frugal Queen in France on YT. I had a feeling of deja vu then realised she reminds me of David Walliams on Come Fly With Me when he does the Mr and Mrs Surname sketch. I couldn’t take it seriously after that 🤣🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

I have no idea what you are comparing it too as I don't watch much comedy but at least it's given you a giggleDedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

She used to be Frugal Queen in Cornwall before moving to France, deleted all her social media stuff a few years back and has started up again. Don't get me wrong, I admire what she and others do, but I agree with you @moving_forward that you need to be selective in what you read and implement, as with all of the 'frugal' bloggers.
My mother lent me her copy of the Tightwads Gazette, and the hovel in the hills books which I enjoyed reading but would not choose to replicate when I do not have to.
I stopped posting on MSE under my old account because I got tired of the seemingly relentless misery that was expected of old school/thrift, the 'gloomy and purposeless trousers of uncle Vanya' school of thrift that quite frankly made me want to run round the house naked with the heating on full blast with the windows open, while eating hotel chocolate caramel chocolate buttons. Not Weezl though, she was absolutely spot on ace for no money panics, as is @Greying_Pilgrim . I moved my diary to mortgagefreeinthree and was mightily (oaks) peed off when it got deleted on a server move as I lost all my recipes, which was when I came back here under a new name.
My school of frugal has always been working with what I have, what I can afford and what matters to us. We have lived off £20 a week disposable income, back when the budget supermarkets didn't take credit cards and I breathed in each time things went up a few pence. I have (reluctantly) drunk bad coffee because I had no choice, and I have gone without to ensure others eat properly. I try really hard not to preach or judge others.
Tonight we had pot roast beef, because I could shove it in the oven at 2 rather than send a boy to the chippy at 6. Added bonus is cold beef for tomorrow for the same money.
Hairy trousers (shirt) for the sake of it? Pass me the chocolate buttons and some cashmere gloves (in a 'smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast' style...)My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
