Ps, IRL I suspect we will know some same people.  No more handbags at dawn with the two EBD societies fortunately.

Well done on the veg plot. My small raised bed has some perpetual spinach and chard growing in it, along with a lot of self-seeded lambs' lettuce. The big bed has been topped up with compost so needs something sowing in it, as do the planters. I've cleaned the greenhouse too, so can make a proper start when I'm back from my next work trip.

  • Lol I see where your coming from 😅
I like some of the ideas she has and. And ignore what I dont like 😁

  • Frugal queen in France on you tube is gluten free and has some good ideas.
I meant to respond to this and forgot.  I used to follow her when she was just frugal Queen but I struggle with the miserableness of a lot of the OS frugality, which is why I chose DFW for my diary. No judgement here
There was a lot of "do as I say, not as I do" there I think - I'll never forget someone pointing out to me that on her blog just days after yet another hectoring post about turning heating down, adding layers etc, there was a photo with Mr FQ in the  background wearing shorts and a t-shirt indoors in midwinter! She never mentioned too much (anything!) about the brand new car he bought either, as I recall!  Made me laugh, but also a bit sad that so many people were comparing themselves to her apparently hugely high standards and feeling they "weren't doing it right" when actually it clearly wasn't all as it seemed. Also a good reminder that what people portray on social media often is just the "highlight reel" rather than any sort of reflection of reality.

I did "Frugal february" on my blog for a few years. After completing the posts summarising one year's effort I was contacted by someone asking me "how much did you really spend though?" because they assumed my quoted figures were leaving stuff out to make it look better. Nope - absolutely not, all truthful, but I found it quite worrying that there was such a level of cynicism out there - strangely enough I think now most people need more cynicism around socials, not less!

As for seeds, sowing and growing stuff - nuffin, we've got nuffin here I tell you. :smirk: (But there WILL be gooseberries - thousands of them if last year's anything to go by!)

  • I wonder if it's the same frugal queen as the one in France I watch doesn't seem to do the things you say. Maybe I just don't notice as I take the advice I want and leave the other.

  • I have no idea what you are comparing it too as I don't watch much comedy but at least it's given you a giggle

I bet we do - certainly the same sellers of childrens books.  I was 'cured' in the no spare income years mostly, and now I am so short sighted that I cant read hard copies easily.  I miss the excitement of the catalogues arriving and the wait to see if your 'must not exceed X pounds' cheque would be cashed.
