I love the clinic with a q lipsticks, never found any others that compare. I used to be a devil for their gift with purchase when they did the makeup bag with various bits and bobs.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

I think I have said before but I wouldn't have even thought of checking if it hadnt been for @Cheery_Daff posting about early retirement reductions being less than she thought. He might have got a lot more at 65, but he would have hated the next seven years.Alchemilla said:Good news about retirement.
Similar gap between DH and me.
I am trying to convince him to take phased retirement in September.5 -
I am delighted to be in the company of like-minded people who also just want a job not a career
I had no clue what I wanted to do after University and fell into a temporary role during Thatcher's recession (huge bubble of new graduates, recession and no jobs for them ...) and have gradually evolved into something of a specialist at what I do, which is also very transferrable from business to business. I have just landed (survived my first week) in a well paid (according to LI anyway) role in a *hugely* technically complex industry & business and even so I can see I have skills and insights to offer them - suggested a way through a heated deadlock between sites in Italy and the UK yesterday afternoon ....
But, my main passion, what feeds my heart and soul, is my home, my garden and my life with my husband. I did the living away during the week for three years in two different roles, and whilst it was really useful experience, I hope never, ever to have to do it again. My quality of life was really low.

I am lucky and have a tiny USS pension too Cheery. It is at least a relatively guaranteed amount. My other, equally tiny, one is now covered by the pension protection fund. I really rated the PPF website, you can easily register and model what you will get, change lump sums and retirement dates on line and best of all apply to retire on line. Mr Redos lump sum was in the bank within a week of pressing send on the application! Looking forward to the new tax year as well when he should get a tax refund. It'll make a nice change from us owing them.
House wise there hasn't been a lot of progress this week as he has been ill so has just pottered, and I am too busy with work in the week to do much. The sun is shining outside and I want to get out in the garden but the house is a tip so I must clean instead which is why I am sat on the computer.
Reading about gardens and plants on your diary @KajiKita has set me off on thinking about what I want to do and how much I am willing to spend to achieve it. Sounds like your new job is going really well, pleased for you. Always a gamble in a new place.

Enjoy the sunshine. I have cut the hedge. I reckon if I do a bit more for the next couple of weekends it should be finished...5

One of the things that killed my pig about my current role is the (two in particular) people who don't want to do any actual work but do want to flounce about pontificating and saying how hard they work. Then criticise those who are doing the actual work.4

@Alchemilla - we have some of those. Apparently one is going to quit on Monday. Strangely I'm not devastated... I'm busy working out where to reallocate the headcount to (well, he didn't do anything, so clearly we don't need him).
I've cut the hedge and tidied up 😑, scavenged some bits of fence panel from my neighbour to help fill the kindling bin, and made 3 batches of soup for the week so I have food to eat during my stupidly long work days.4 -
I've not tried the PPF website, might give it a go. Although my pension is so far away it feels a bit pointless 🙄 Can't see me making extra pension contributions until at least a lot bigger chunk of the mortgage has gone, given it's DB and my/employer contributions are already decent. I have learned SO much from listening to everyone talking about it though!
I fall into a funny camp with my job I think. I never wanted a 'career', but have somehow ended up taking a fairly traditional career rout and landing in a pretty career type job, and finding myself relatively ambitious 😂 My problem is I flip flop between ambitious and wanting to get to the next stage and do all the things, and then on other days I'm all'sod it, I want to spend all my time in the garden with the chickens'. 😂 Never can make up my mind, hence trying (again) for promotion this spring, after cutting back to four days a week last September. Flip flop flip flop. Of course the ideal is four days AND a promotion but we'll see 😂4
