In a minor aside (based on Mr Redos recent retirement) I would suggest that anyone who has 'defined benefit' pensions may want to check their retirement options. The reductions for Mr Redo going early where far less than we expected, and the government body who take over the pensions of places who went pop without funds are due to change their payout rates for ER shortly (as per their website) so a delay may cost dearly.  We only looked because of a post by @Cheery_Daff for which he will be grateful for many happy years of happy early retirement.
Oh how lovely! I am utterly thrilled! Tes we were surprised about Mr Cheery's reductions. So pleased Mr Redo will have extra years of retirement! Will raise a glass to you tonight 😊😊
  • Thanks everyone - we have a agreed a long list of tasks that we are both happy with.  I am very lucky that his Dad was a builder and he spent his student summers being taught how to plaster/brick lay/etc.  My support role is to provide suitably substantial meals which is well within my skill set.

  • This sounds like an excellent division of tasks!

I never win anything, I’m not lucky at all.

Glad you’re still with us 😆
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Ha, I did cunningly put them in his name based on my track record, but lady luck has seen through that clearly.

E.on confirmed live account from Igloo failing, so cancelled the old DD and set up a new one today.  The idea of arguing about my old credit balance is tedious, but I was in credit, had current readings, screen shot of balance etc so it should all be ok.

The tools/materials spend remains high, but good progress on the house front.

Trying to chip away at the mess, one area at a time, at the weekend.

I jumped on the instant pot band wagon last month which works well round work and complete lack of time and inclination.  The best lamb curry I have made in years, and plain cooked chick peas that are the boys new favourite thing.

Need ideas for colours and decoration, but remembered about the free library app for magazines rather than frittering who knows how much on 'Period Living' et al.  Might even flick through the Christmas issue of Good Food.

  • Good thinking on the app - and no idea why it’s never occurred to me that Good Food would be there either - thanks for that! 😁

Glad to hear that things are going well - fingers crossed you don’t have too much hassle getting your energy credit transferred across or just refunded if that’s what needs to happen. I’m in the middle of the process with Utility Point > EDF too so can definitely sympathise!
