@HairyHandofDartmoor its a source of some comfort that the boys are home and don't want to go out
@Chrystal thank you - I look after support services to key workers, some of my people are just doing head down and batter on, others are understandably panicking. I am lucky, I can work form home 90% of the time.
@Sun_Addict I always have a decent stock cupboard, even when we had no cash it was a second bag of value pasta. My grandma hoarded tinned pineapple, I think its genetic. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

@EssexHebridean I am finding the lack of skim milk painful will try diluting when the current pint runs out
@greenbee I got as far as muttering at A&C, didn't order and now regret it. Trouble is most of it was things we wouldn't use.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Today we got lucky (or organised) as I spotted a couple of days ago that a local butchers was doing a one off bulk buy click and collect. Our order has been portioned and frozen, I remain grateful that we have the funds, space and means to do this.
Dinner tonight is chicken kebab, wedges and tomato salad. The chicken got marinated in elderly plain yoghurt and some random bits from the spice drawer (garlic, herbs, turmeric before I make a jenga style pile to bake in the oven. wedges will be par boiled with a little turmeric, sprayed with oil and sprinkled with salt. We will have tomato salad, and probably a garlic powder and mayo dip.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I love your foodie posts redo - once this is all over you should write a recipe book for times like these - a bit like they did during the war (Wootton Pie anyone!)😁Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

@HairyHandofDartmoor they had 2 pinters of skim in the co op this morning so it should be reappearing elsewhere. It was more important that I got milk for the boy though so semi skim for us.
@Seasidegal58 thanks, but I have been allegedly writing book on my specialist subject for at least 3 years without much progress. I keep taking on projects to avoid it.
I have noticed that mortgagefreeinthree.co.uk is back up and running for those who like frugal food blogs, although I am still sulking that my years of diaries on their forum got lost a few years ago. A lesson in keeping hard copies of recipes. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I had to google Wooton pie but it made me smile. Standing in the co-op queue this morning I thought of Nella Lasts diary, and my beloved Angela Thirkells and was reminded that it was the time it took to get things you didn't really want as well as the lack of volume that people suffered with.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

It was a nice dinner @doingitanyway and one I would make again
Tonight we had pasta with meatballs. I found lurking in the bottom of the freezer some very reduced burgers which I defrosted, split into sixths and rolled into rough balls Pan browned, into pyrex oven proof dish. Chopped tomatoes, teaspoon of sugar, onion granuals, garlic powder and a pinch of chipotle chilli flakes for heat and smoke. Half an hour in the oven, served with linguine. I dislike pasta so a rare beast in this household.
1lb of meat could have coped with half a tin of tomatoes. I kept the left over to go into tomorrows minestrone.
