G.H. has been my best friend for at least the last 55 years. Whenever I'm feeling down I snuggle down with one of her books and lose myself in her world... giggling out loud at her dry wit. Fabulous!I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy4 -
I also love Heyer! And now is the perfect time for some escapism along those lines, I’ll dig them out.I’ve never read The Blue Castle but it appears on so many favourite lists by people with the same taste in books as me. I’ll need to track a copy down.Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167

Hello, I am alive just busy with work. I provide support to key workers so challenging times.
Not sure that posting is currently helpful, there is a risk of either being negative or causing upset because I happened to bulk buy stuff from Makro many months ago. Anyway..
1. All of us are at home, saving on travel costs and keeping us relatively safe if not particularly calm
2. I tend to run a full store cupboard because I hate shopping and don't have time to shop
3. I have an ancient chest freezer and had done the months shopping before things got really tricky
4. I am in the lucky position where paying more than I have to is annoying, not food critical. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I managed to pick up a joint of gammon before things got really challenging. I cooked it yesterday in cherry coke, with a slug of sugar, star anise and some bottom of the fridge bits. OH hates wet ham, so it also had an hour in the oven with some honey and grainy mustard. I let it go cold so it is easier to slice thinly. Last night we had ham, egg, chips and peas.
The cola means that the stock isn't a great soup base, but I used the cold liquid to soak a 250g pack of marrowfat peas over night.
Sauteed a chopped onion, diced a tired potato (to help it to thicken, he hates thin soup) and added the drained peas, and chicken stock made with cube and water to the max line on the soup machine. Did a couple of work calls and came back to lovely thick pea soup. Shredded a slice of the gammon and stirred it through. Shredded crispy bacon would do the same thing. I just had the soup on its own as I'm not keen on mixed textures.
Also simple in a pan, where you need to cook for 30 minutes or so and then blend. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Glad you're all okay Redo and safely working from home. It's nice for families to be together at a time like this
.
It's very fortunate that you stocked up on food before the crisis.
