I remember Bunty. My mum used to get Women's Weekly which I always read. Back in the days when magazines didn't irritate me, apart from having to wait for the next instalment of the serial stories.
We nipped into local market town this morning and I picked up a couple of scarves. My default style now involves a patterned scarf, with the colours matched to my layers so these are useful as building blocks for outfits. I will exit the two pale pink plain ones that don't really work with my wardrobe.
Seaside, cottage is not far from coast but has nice hill walks from the front door which is perfect for us.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

A spot of frittering today, on 99p kindle books. A dozen or so on offer Patricia wentworth/Dorothy sayers with a view to exiting my tattered paperbacks. Or at least not replacing them when they eventually crumble. I had credit so more opportunity cost than additional spending. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Ooh I like Patricia Wentworths, but I love real books. Books are NEVER clutter in my view and they make a great insulator for walls

Another one here that never thinks of books as clutter, but I have to be realistic on the amount of room I have to store them - hence the kindle! If and when I move Im going to make sure there's at least some room for more books!:D

Even if you don't think of books as clutter, there's a limit to how many a house can hold...
I don't think anyone is going to walk into redo's house and think 'no one here reads'
Redo - do you want me to return the book you lent me? Or is that on the list for replacement via kindle?0 -
I only exit books that are damaged beyond reading, the authors I mentioned are regular reads so they do eventually fall to bits. If they drop to 99p on kindle then I buy them. I struggle to read physical books in bed, so the back lit, text size adjustable and above all lightweight kindle paper white is a great solution. Apparently the new one is waterproof, but I prefer physical books for the bath.
On the subject of books, I really have lost my way on old style, cooking and gardening. Need to rekindle my enthusiasm ready for when this project ends or I'll just drift. Books are good for this, Christopher Lloyd never fails on making me want to be in the garden for example. So I am after suggestions for books that might me want to grow veg, make jam, bake and so on. Miss Read works well for this for example, as do the little house on the prairie series. Any other suggestions? I'm not that keen on blogs, sooner or later they get political or try and sell you things or pretty pictures as my head works in words. I've read the move to wales, live on pennies elderly couple with the stone soup book beloved on OS, and the Tightwad gazette. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Sorry I don't have any to recommend but stealing from your list as it sounds great.
I have a kindle but I don't enjoy it. I default to paper boos. Wish I could do both.
I struggle with letting books go. I see books as friends and not clutter. I could live without them but I wouldn't want to.:oIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Elizabeth David has a couple of good offerings which have the bonus of some recipes as well but are actually "books" rather than "recipe books" - also Nigel Slater if I remember rightly. (Guilty pleasure!)
Not a Kindle person here either - I love the texture and smell of books and don't get on with reading on a screen really. Absolutely get what people mean about accumulating too many though - we try to have a "one in/one out" rule but it doesn't work too well!My standard every day reading comes from the Charity shop at 50p a time, and either goes to Mum, or back to the CS after I'm done though.
