Thank you all for the new year wishes. It was back to work today in a suitably reluctant fashion, not least because I spent most of it on the Groundhog Day motorway.

I did finally have a response from the butchers, firstly an accusation that I had sent a picture of a different turkey or a roast chicken. Was so cross that I didn't respond immediately, and by the time I arrived on site they had actually had a proper look at the photos but then they basically said that it was out of their control and anyway I should simply have cut round the nasty black vein that ran through half of the joint. It was the worst bit of turkey I have seen in 20 years of cooking Christmas dinners but what do I know? Quality approach to customer service means that the Company are on my never use again list. Anyone suggest a good online butchers?

Confession of the day. I bought some jeans in the sale that actually fit. This is such a rare event that I bought all of the stock in my size :o

Aaleigha I hadn't thought of trying rescu3 remedy on him, it's only really been a problem recently. Less able to cope with it as he gets older which seems rather random.

Dogs are OHs, cats are mine. I don't really understand dogs but I don't like to see anything frightened like that.

I don't know how old but could pup be a little bit deaf so he doesn't here the quieter rumble but only the very loud ones or even a little senile

I have a cd I made, packed now I am afraid that I use sounds that are available for free on the net bonfire party sounds

I usually start about September and play on the lowest setting severer all times a day for several days then turn it up a bit copy paste and continue
All thus while normal sounds are happening eg telly

    Why I forgot I don't know

I work with the more difficult rescue dogs befor they go to new homes
    Emergency fund £10,000
    Several categories with savings in
    Cars, house maintenance, birthdays
Etc I have about 10 categories

Really happy to be debt free after being a compulsive spender

One of ours was bothered by different sounds as she got older, she lost different frequencies as she went deaf so I guess things sounded weird. She was actually calmer once she'd lost more hearing and we figured she'd either got used to it or things were kind of evenly loud iyswim. No solutions that I know of apart from keeping them with you and distracted with a toy or food.

Re the butchers that sounds like a case for posting the pictures on their FB if you can be bothered and ignore if not.

Happy belated New Year redo to you and your family!

Sorry to hear about Turkeygate! What abysmal customer service! You would think they would bend over backwards to rectify matters and at least apologise (perhaps with some vouchers as well!, but maybe not if the turkey is anything to go by!).

Also I hope the animals have calmed down from the New Year firework bombardment.

    All the best for 2019.

Happy New Year Redo , I am late owing to the virus I have had . The turkey debacle wasn't dealt with very well at all , there should have been some kind of redress . I guess you won't be using the butcher again, so there loss.

The fireworks were very loud here on NYE , they woke me up. My DDs dog hides under her bed and he is a Labrador.

    Have a good Sunday .

    Thanks everyone.

Busy weekend, walking and cleaning. Not a huge amount of cooking, enthusiasm rather limited by the general cold. I'm wearing so many layers that it's hard to move.

Need to read the meters for the new energy supplier tomorrow. I hate to think how much I have added to the gas bill but needs must. Using the wood burner is a bag of logs at £3.50 per day which only really heats the snug. I'd be surprised if the heating is that much, from memory on the old smart meter it was about 50p an hour to run.

Gas is the cheapest form of heating. Woodburners are only really cost effective when you're burning free wood. Time to start scavenging pallets :)

I'm using my rubbish storage heating as an excuse to buy lovely proper wool blankets :D

But then have to fight the moggies off them :rotfl:
