In theory you plant them between November and March but actually the garden doesn't know its April so as long as you did it soon then they would be ok.
Our old canes are at least twelve years old, and got transplanted from the old fruit garden years ago so you get your moneys worth over time. I'm waiting to see if i can find any new growth to transplant before I fritter.
HHOD I love violas but am resisting all newness
Cumbria It couldn't make its mind up all day, and I got a lot done between light showers.
Conscious that I need to get potatoes and any new fruit in asap so have diverted my attention to the veg plot. Mordor is a lot less impenetrable fortress this evening, with a major haircut on the climbing roses and much removal of brambles. I'm hoping to dig the few nettles out tomorrow, and skim off the chickweed but that depends on the weather. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I did a first cut on the lawn, and am hoping to do another one soon, gradually lowering the mower blades. Must finish planting what's already here before the next lot arrives.
Raspberries and a couple of other fruit bushes survived mistreatment, so I may get the odd bit of fruit this year.0 -

I was brought up near you, so I bet I have been there... We used to do Ness and High Leigh a lot, and Tatton park. Absolutely love Dorothy Clive too.
Greenbee, I know what you mean, I just can not buy anything until I have a clear space ready or it'll be a repeat of last year.
Seaside, I'm shattered tonight but will try for a photo upload tomorrow.
I'm off for some ibuprofen and a long soak in a hot bath. Will catch up with diaries in the morning.
I've covered the potted up plugs with fleece and closed the polytunnel, hope it is warm enough. Cant bring them inside or fatpants will sleep on them.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Did a tip run this monring so some of the mess gone off the patio. Fatpants will miss the dead microwave.
I have taken another tub trug of bramble and nettle roots out of the veg plot but its raining again so I have had to stop. Rather sore today anyway so probably not a bad thing.
Everything electrical is on, and I have some beef pot roasting for dinner and packed lunches. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

One bucket a day, and you might not be so sore.
Well done on the tip run!
Tipping down here, so nothing done in the garden (so glad I did the mowing yesterday, but it's going to grow faster than I can cut it if it keeps raining!), but have done laundry and some work instead. I have 4 slide decks to put together and I'm feeling uninspired by the available graphics. There are only so many combinations I can put them into...0
