Some idiot keyed my hire car

Might be worth cancelling your debit card to prevent them taking any money off. Always easier to argue the case before they have taken the money.0

Nope no photographs. As you can probably tell this was my first time hiring a car. Next time I'll be taking out the additional insurance and taking plenty of photographs. Lesson learnt.
Update - Avis have sent a signed Vehicle Rental receipt through (by email) with no additional charges.
No don't do that, take out seperate excess insurance. Much cheaper and will cover you for year so will cover multiple hires.0 -

As the car was "off hire", it should not have been used during this period. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Nor would it be covered, insurance wise.lincroft1710 wrote: »As the car was "off hire", it should not have been used during this period.0 -
They closed at 1pm on Saturday which wouldn't have given me enough time to drive the vehicle to their office.
For future reference, Avis usually do out of hours return where just park the vehicle on one of their spaces and post the keys through the door.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
If they do claim that you were responsible for the car after the hire period expired then I think you would be entitled to bill them for this period where you responsible for storage of their property without your prior written agreement to do so. I suggest your fee is of an equal amount to any charges they try and apply."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0
