Just had a wee wardrobe clear out. I mught actually be fine till Jan 19 but will have an emergency fund of £10 for socks. Chucked a few pieces, found a pair of jeans that are still fine and another couple of small items i forgot about. So all rearranged to be seen better.

Wool stash will be sorted when kids are in bed. Hopefilly have enougbt to make cowl, some fingerless gloves and a wee cropped cardi that would complement what i have.

Dd announced this morning that she wanted to do some colouring in with me.I don't think she reads these threads....! So we set to work on some Tinkerbell pictures.

Today I am grateful for colouring and chatting time with dd, for some owl sewing, for the pleasure of looking through my tub of threads to find matching/contrasting ones according to what I want to make, for being able to stay dry and inside, for a good book, for the speed of email communication.

    NSD #2. I'm on a roll.

Something had to give, July was my month of madness financially, need to behave better this month.

Have applied for the M&S credit card that was in Martin's email today. I need a pair of shoes that aren't Doc Martens so if I get accepted I will use the voucher to buy them. I will only use the card to buy my food shopping as I usually spend £100 online a month. I had to tell my OH that I was doing this, sort of to ask permission as being bad with credit cards got me into this mess, he mulled it over and said 'And Martin Lewis recommend this, he said to do that? Ok then' :D

    Today I am grateful for:

Achieving a NSD, they used to be easy, but during my month of madness I had gotten used to flashing the cash every day and so now have to retrain myself.

For overcoming my nerves about work this morning.

For listening to two episodes of a very good podcast called 'the money coven' by a former MSE member of staff.

Calling thanks for the good piggy wishes, he's been back to the vet, more medication and then back next week. We think we know what it is, so provided it is what we think, hopefully the antibiotics will clear it. Although it's expensive I would never not treat an animal in my care unless there was no chance of improvement, and he's my last piggy left so I'm VERY attached to him! :p

So today wasn't a NSD because of the vet. I also bought a bar of chocolate for a colleague who's been having a rough time so £1.50 spent on that.

    Today I'm grateful for:
    Hopefully getting piggy sorted
Getting in touch with a friend I haven't seen for ages and arranging to meet up
Feeling on top of the housework and home life in general

NSD today, very pleased with myself. I'm very bad for nipping out to the shop when I'm bored at work.

Today I'm grateful that I got a window seat on the train so I could enjoy the amazing costal views (I can't believe how many folk burry their heads in their phones and miss out!). For a great colleague who always pulls out the stops, to my yoga teacher - she's just brilliant and for discovering another new podcast. How I love podcasts!

Hoping for another NSD tomorrow but spotted bubble bath for 9p in Superdrug and wanted to grab some for myself and for a friend who goes through the stuff like it's going out of fashion. Decisions!! If there's a good few bottles left I'll maybe hold off until Friday.

I might do a wee bit colouring before bed, got a colouring book & some pencils in the cupboard.

    Evening all,

Money spent today on SW book and bars and top up food shop. Got lots of healthy options and items for some new recipes, this is why dieting costs me more.

Another half day at the temping job so that's more pennies and I'll do 3 more hours tomorrow. It equates so far to the vet bill, new boots and my slimming world membership for 6 weeks :) I'm hoping to do some hours next week too :)

    Today I am grateful for:-
    - the sensible vet yesterday and sensible advice and treatment plan
    - not getting wet in the rain
    - the chance to earn extra money
    - the company of my dogs and cat
    - friendly chatter at my temping job
    - my warm safe home

We also have Colouring Book day on 2nd August so if you don’t have colouring book and felt pens/crayons you can go out and buy them and we won’t count them as a spend!!! I have several colouring books including a HP one OH got me for Christmas so will definitely do some colouring in
    Rules:

Allocate – set your budgets for the month – this needs to includes any money needed for holidays away, days out, maybe even school uniform/items. Make sure you have something allocated for treats.
Once you have done your budget you then need to pay any surplus to your debts or savings.
Budget for the month has been completed and I've made my payments to the debt. I'll be able to pay more from income from 2nd job as it comes in.
Use (Up) – we are going to try and use up as much as possible, whether that is clothes/food etc. Do you need new clothes for holidays or will your current clothes be suitable? Do you need those sparkly sandals when you have a similar pair in the wardrobe? Do the children need to replace all school items/clothes or can some from last year be reused?
I tend to wear the same things over and over again so will have a good look through my wardrobe and see what is lurking in there. Am pretty good at using up food
Gratitudes – each time you post I would like you to post at least 3 gratitudes.
    Will do
Upcoming (holidays) – what plans has everyone got for August? If you haven’t yet decided and are worried about keeping the kids entertained then now is the time to plan the month. Get yourself an A4 piece of paper and draw 31 squares and start filling in the days.
Free activities are preferred - can we all share some tips?
is there a friend or family member you haven’t seen for a while – plan a catch up with them.
No holidays planned but have got a few catchups with friends in the diary
Spends – we will have 15 NSD’s (unless you want to set a separate target).
Medical spends or days when the only purchase is reduced items do not count as spends.
Am going to aim for 16 this month
Time (for yourself) – make time for yourself this month, I know its hectic for a lot of people so take time to have a coffee in peace, a bubble bath, indulge in a good book, do some colouring or something else that takes your fancy.
I struggle with this, often don't have much time to myself but will try to make time.

Today I'm grateful for a beautiful sunny day, getting all the washing line dried, a good chat with my brother and fajitas for tea.

Sorry to be late to the party but I have been extremely tired - a new trick to me, managed to fall asleep in the middle of pouring myself a cup of water. Only a few seconds but went to get the 'book' I thought I had dropped and the floor was all wet. Luckily part of the sheet and the cover I had thrown off soaked some of it up and as they were already wet I used them to mop up the rest (so the floor didn't get damaged).

My previous best trick was falling asleep in the middle of tai chi. Always fell asleep in the minute relaxation/ meditation in the middle but one day I fell asleep standing up in the middle of an exercise.

Slow and sluggish all yesterday (still went to mum's as she was ill, more about being there with her than getting lots done), had a good night's sleep but still struggling today. Letting myself sleep as mum has an appointment on the far side of the borough on Saturday so long week, short weekend, better get my rest in now or next week will be more of the same.

For yesterday my gratitudes are spending quality time with mum (snoring in unison), getting some things done (bins out, filled the green bin with bits and pieces, fed us both) and some patches of sunshine between the showers and downpours. Mum has passed on her cough (possibly bronchitis) to me - she denied it on Monday but yesterday commented that I had exactly the same cough.

Part of why I am so tired might be that on Monday when I got back from mum's I tackled the ivy growing on the shed to the furniture shop (I have asked the owner's permission). Went up the ladder (only once) to get some of the top growth, flattened out the bushy bits lower down (it's covering an eyesore but when it gets too thick mums with pushchairs and other children are limited to half the pavement and end up walking in the road) and cleared the drain. Need to go back and clear the channel from our houses to the drain with a trowel but that's for another day.

Today was crafts. Only 3 of us as some people had gone on a trip to Chester zoo. We each picked some pictures we liked, which I stuck down (larger ones first then smaller and smaller to fill in the remaining spaces). Then wrote inspirational words/ bits of advice on them.

Two of us encouraged our third member to 'colour in' a lion using up the bits of scrumpled tissue we used in the centre of the collage. In the end we did it between us and I used my gold pen to colour the face and ears (orange tissue paper mane, red tongue and black features).

Been mostly sleeping since I got in, only just had tea.

Budget for the month is £100 for everything, spent money both days so far.

Today's gratitudes are for companionship (we were a very strange threesome, we would never normally be 'friends' but somehow within the crafts set up, it works), for walking to and from crafts, for having time to rest and come to slowly this morning.

Also once again have managed to walk into volunteering for something. One of my fellow crafters asked for six more windows and 2 doors for the next two fairy houses and then asked if I could sew crocheted squares into a blanket - she can crochet but some hand movements are difficult for her and she has to ask for help (more some days than others). I said okay and then she came back with the leader of the organisation who asked me to sew lots of knitted squares into lots of blankets - they are for 'street children' and they want them 'large cot size' for 2 year olds. Couldn't really say no. Whatever problems I have are nothing compared to a 2 year old living on the streets.

Guinea pig hugs and best wishes and chinchilla cuddles.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Evening everyone :hello:

It's the second of the month and I've managed 2 NSDs already. Hopefully I'll keep it up.

Took lunch to work yesterday and today so that's 2 out of 13 days done and dusted.

£10 challenge has kicked off and I'm up to £36.90 made up of £11.90 from panelbasenet and a £25 gift voucher from Sainsbury for taking out home insurance with them.

Started reading a new book yesterday and I'm already half way through it.

Today I am grateful for: having flexible working hours, my little one enjoying it at the childminders and food that is quick and easy to cook.
