Second half of the year I think is harder.

To be honest, I think changing any deeply ingrained habit is hard and once we're in the habit of associating booze with relaxing and having a good time, it's difficult to get out of it. There are a lot of reasons or excuses we can give ourselves to celebrate something - Friday's always the end of the working week at any time of year and we all have friends who have birthdays when it's mildly inconvenient! When the sun's out we all want to just unwind and soak it up, basically. Summer's a good reason to have a barbeque and sit outside with a glass of something cold, autumn is the time for cosying up by a huge log fire when it's windy and raining, December's about Christmas, January's about New Year and all the evenings out we didn't fit in before Christmas, February is a miserable month, cold and endlessly bleak so we need to perk ourselves up, Easter's a long weekend, there are two bank holidays in May, June's the beginning of summer and so on. I think anyone who cuts down any time is doing brilliantly.
Am hoping that I have more will power this weekend than last :rotfl:

Good luck with the weekend, Stitchy Witchy!
It turns out it is possible on the odd occasion to visit pubs, bars, theatre and restaurants and not drink booze.

I was amazed when I discovered that too, WBF! It still seems like a miracle and I wish I'd found out sooner - I could kiss any landlady or landlord that keeps an AF beer chilled and ready for the few and far between of us who don't want an evening of booze or sugary drinks. I really don't care what they charge, either.

    11/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

    6/16 please shaggy.

An unusual AF Saturday for me, despite being at a BBQ, surrounded by people drinking and being offered wine. I even had a 2 min walk home.

The reason was 2 fold though. Firstly I had wine last night and indulged a little too much. Secondly I have a blood test on Monday morning and I wanted to be 2 days clear of alcohol.

Still I'm pleased with today. Didn't miss it and feel chuffed knowing I'll wake up in the morning clear headed.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

  • Good morning everyone.
    7/20 AF Days

Had Bacardi yesterday which I have never drunk before and then had some awful nightmares. Not sure if it's related but not doing that again.
Enough to put you right off.

i haven't done very well lately. Trying hard.
    Thank you all.
