The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

Thanks for all the suggestions and help from peeps in our situation of moving to air bnb or rented to break the chain! You have put our minds at rest with the whole credit search whilst being homeless shenanigans! 

What a weekend this has been... so after months of knowing the top of our chain hadn’t found anywhere 🙄 and a weird relationship the top of the chain and their buyers have (these are 2 and 3 properties above us) I decide to do some Facebook internet searching on these houses. Long story cut short, I find out that the 2nd property from the top has no intention moving if the due incinerator plans and 1500 new homes being built near to they house does not get granted... these plans have been bubbling away for a long time and was the reason why they put their house on the market, but in the village fb groups this owner has posted quite frequently (since going under offer) and she basically says she won’t sell if the plans get opposed... but... this... could take many months to know that decision maybe even a year 🤦🏻‍♀️😳 so what do I do...? Yep like every sane normal person, I call our vendor... got her number of the internet as her husband has a construction company. She seemed very nice and is furious at the delays but I tell her everything w shave found out, she wanted all the screen shots so sent them to her and she messages back saying she was going to get onto the agents. She also said they were out last week viewing other properties so I’m hoping they will just buy something else. Hope I did the right thing calling her... it was a last resort seen as though we should be exchanging this week and completing in 7 weeks!

I admire the detective work!!! Hopefully this week we'll hear something, anything from the chain below us! No one could get hold of any of them last week (3 buyers Inc mine)

Thank you! I did say to our vendor that I feel like a complete stalker 🤦🏻‍♀️ But waiting allost 4?month for nothing and then to be told the top of the chain has not even instructed solicitors sent me completely crazy! How people can carry on about their day and do this to other people is just crazy. Especially as we are in a pandemic and apparently we are only me at to be moving house because you absolutely need to... not because you are testing the water and making a chain wait whilst you find out if a development will be built or not and you stay or go... oh sorry, it’s started me off again 🤣🤣

oh crikey with your chain! What is the matter with people??! Is everyone ready to exchange or are they still waiting on things?

hoping to exchange this week and complete next thursday. do exchanges happen every week day or do conveyancers tend to do them in a lump at the end of the week?

also... the temp accomodation thing ..... i assume if we are in an air b n b on census day ( 21st ) ...we dont do the census? does that mean we dont exist? lol

Well to be fair the bottom 2 links are newish after the original bottom collapsed (our buyer found a new buyer after a few days thank God) so they're a little behind but the radio silence is v unnerving. I'm now stuck in the middle with my seller getting impatient (fair play, we've been ready since Jan) but nothing I can do other than put pressure on the chain to get a wiggle on!!

We are due to exchange this week, but my solicitors, who have been brilliant at replying, have gone very quiet over the last week. Fingers crossed that they are just really busy actually doing the work rather than holding my hand through the process. Our sellers seem super flaky so I will feel tons better once they are contractually tied down to a date.

I want to share a good news on Monday Morning. We completed on Friday afternoon. Phewwww man. this is a roller coaster ride but well worth it. Best of luck to everyone who is waiting.

Happy Monday everyone - hope you all get some good news this week.

We should be completing next week so got our buildings insurance sorted yesterday. Get to the end of the process and it says that they will post the documents out to our new address   and havent emailed us with any policy number or anything like that, which we need to show our solicitor. Why is everything so complicated?

Nothing much going on here, although my boyfriend announced last night that he had missed a call from the EA on Friday and hadn't called them back yet. Sigh! Hoping it's just a weekly update-type call and nothing disastrous.
