The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

It's taken quite a while for my buyer to sort out his mortgage, but he told me last Friday that he's now got his offer. Hoping that his conveyancer will have time to review it ASAP and that we'll be able to exchange at the end of this week. He's keen to complete on the 12th, so we've started packing in anticipation (hopefully this hasn't tempted fate).

I’m due to complete today, just waiting for the call to say it’s all done! Time today appears to have slowed down completely while I check my phone every 5 minutes!

I didn't get the fall story as i was just really shocked when the EA called.

Back when we had our offer accepted, we were told they were leaving the country in the 1st week of May and the vendor was going to pay them to leave earlier in Feb, but thats no longer happening not sure why.

Even with lockdown being lifted i doubt they'll leave earlier than planned.

So im just counting down the days now!

How is your sale going? Did you get a chance to view your new house yet?

Maybe they couldn’t find suitable temporary accommodation. The only short term ones near us are extortionately priced (over twice our new mortgage for a month), so that leaves a 6 month rental which isn’t ideal at all. That’s why we’ve planned to move in with family if there’s any issues. 

Spoke to our EA and our buyers are apparently all happy with exchange tomorrow, completion next week, they just needed to transfer their deposit. 

We’re viewing the house again tomorrow morning and hopefully exchanging tomorrow afternoon/Wednesday. I still can’t quite believe we have gotten to this point. House is mostly packed now and crazy cleaning has commenced. If anything happens, at least we will have a super clean house! 

Yes I think so too.
Very exciting times, I started clearing out end of last year (got a massive donation pile) and binned lots of things I've been holding onto, so packing won't take too long for me.
All good with the house now? Assuming you've just gone to view.

Ok finally I think we are getting close. My buyer is being a real nightmare and keep threatening to pull out if we don't confirm today but apart from a post completion deed I need to sign (which we have established the process and fee for now) my solicitor is saying we are good to go (although they have said that before). Looks like they have my case open today as there has been a flurry of activity emails in the last hour so hope this keeps up.

Meant to exchange last Friday, didn’t happen... meant to exchange today... still waiting.. the silence is killing me!!! At what point in the day do you write off exchange for another day? Or can they exchange right up to close of business?

They can exchange at any time as long as they're all still at work.

Finally I can join this thread!  I’ve been avoiding commenting in case I tempt fate and something goes wrong...
We’re completing on Friday, live in Scotland so the missives were concluded 4 weeks ago...4 weeks of twiddling our thumbs! A good place to be tbh after reading all the exchange/completion posts.
After sending over the deposit this morning and approx 7000 bank statements/proof of funds/gifted deposit docs, I’ve suddenly gotten so nervous! Now it’s out of my hands I’m super anxious (control freak).  

Good luck to everyone waiting for progress this week!

Think you're using the same firm as me! I've counted approx 8 emails from/to my solicitor today
