  • WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN EXPECTING  EXCHANGING!

Hi all, I am hoping to exchange and complete on the 18th of this month 🤞🏽😱
Safe to say I’m not entirely sure what all of that entails. I was supposed to be away that weekend so I’m having to change my plans to stay home to await completion and pick up my keys.
I currently private rent with another month here so no rush to get moved in.
Can anyone give me a basic run down of what to expect and whether I need to be there or if the estate agents will hold my keys over the weekend? 🙂
    Officially a homeowner 🥳🥳

Waiting to exchange now. In the period of hearing nothing for weeks. Got a bit of a complicated legal situation with the vendor which now means there's a power of attorney solicitor managing the estate so 3 solicitors involved which mean communication takes forever. My conveyancing solicitor talks to their conveyancing solicitor that talks to the power of attorney solicitor.
Nervous that a second lockdown is gonna balls it up further, I just want to move in to a new house - the house is empty!
I’m in a similar boat as the house I’m buying is empty and going through a power of attorney and the communication is awful. Everyone else is ready to go but this solicitor takes forever to answer a call or email! Nightmare. I feel your pain for sure.  So frustrating when it’s an empty house and everything ready to go except the solicitor!

Another week. More waiting. My buyer wants to complete by 30 Sep which is fine with us but the house we’re buying - omg the solicitor is so slow. They won’t respond to the enquires despite having them for 6 weeks and being chased regularly. It’s an empty house, no chain, they said they wanted a quick sale and yet they’re holding it up. I’m getting so frustrated as I feel we’re just waiting and waiting. Worried we’re going to get a weeks notice to have to book removals and arrange stuff.
We’ve had a really understanding removals company working with us over the past couple of weeks. No need to delay in booking, just make sure they understand everything is TBC. We’ve had 4 separate pencils with ours so far. Hoping next weeks will be the last.
  • Joining in here.
Mortgage offered last week. Copy being reviewed by solicitor. Draft contract received. Survey being looked at, couole of things for seller to sort.
Exchange date to be agreed. I am tenant in house so no removal to book.
    04.06.12 no debt:beer:
Now house deposit saving £24,000 and rising:T thanks to 2x Barclays PPI successes
  • We got our mortgage offer yesterday after a long 7 weeks, We are supposed to be exchanging a week today but I don’t see this happening. The solicitor won’t give me a straight answer either which is annoying.
  • Hoping to exchange today! 9 month wait since house went on the market!

I feel your pain we are supposed to be completing on Friday, getting a response from solicitor is like drawing blood out a stone. Im sure he is very busy and doing everything he can to make this happen but cant help but notice when he does email me its 9,10,11 at night and if i reply its the same time at night the next time he reaches out 🥱
  • What’s annoying is for me I’m in no rush to exchange so I would rather have a straight answer as to when it’s likely to be. I won’t be annoyed if it’s going to take longer but just let me know instead of trying to beat around the bush.

Definitely will! If you don't want to cancel your trip, just let the agent know and they'll hold onto them for you.
    Good luck! 🤞
