Tras1996, I suggest you get packing now, as (currently) it seems exchange and completion are taking place on the same day, to ensure nothing goes wrong.Packing takes a lot longer than you think, so I found out!!Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Thank you for input. Just want to know if I’m being unrealistic to think we could be in the house in 9 weeks? Solicitors have all they need now so hopefully searches don’t take too long. Have been told there are some delays but they are still being done. I’m not sure what a ‘normal’ time scale is let alone during these times.0

@Tras1996
I should think as long as they buyer has all the answers and they are satisfied then is shouldn’t delay anything. If everything else has been done should be no reason to delay exchange. Good luck, I hope it all goes through smoothly.1 -

25th March - Advised that developer at top of chain were not doing completions until further notice.
8th April - Email from solicitor to advise developer are recommending chain looks at exchanging/completing on the 24th April.
9th April - Another e-mail from solicitor to advise that the seller is now unwilling to commit to exchange/complete until the lockdown restrictions are lifted.
I've been in contact with my solicitor last week to ask for an update on their position. The agent are advising not to put too much pressure on, but my solicitor is advising that it would be helpful to have some clarification on things. Hopefully may get an update of sorts today, what a nightmare!
E-mail from solicitor yesterday to advise seller was looking at a simultaneous exchange/completion on the 28th May.
Another e-mail this morning to advise vendors further up the chain were looking at 22nd May, which was agreed. It then transpired that all parties were looking at exchanging today...
Finally I can say that exchange has happened! Completing on the 22nd May, phew!0 -
I think exchange is in the very near future from us.... EA called us today to confirm the Vendors solicitor has gone back to them with all of the last enquiries & are asking for our solicitors to advise of exchange and completion dates. EA said about mid-may we should look at getting this all done at the moment - our solicitors are just being so painfully slow at the moment, understandably.
I just want to get in our house and actually have a bloody garden to sit in!!!1 -
