Sorry that I haven't kept up. That little chunk of chain building above looks about as quick and easy as it could be.

    Good luck for completion soon.
Thanks - yes, it is going super-smooth. Here is hoping there is no final curve-ball, and we sail through to completion shortly.  🤞

Well we're keeping everything crossed for completion on Friday, and our solicitor has requested mortgage funds so I'm guessing she's finally feeling confident.
Found out today what the delay has been, our vendors are purchasing a house that has been through probate and has 3 executors - new information to us! The solicitors were waiting for documents signed by the 3 executors so we can exchange, today they've confirmed they have 2, and 3rd is being sent recorded delivery. Then we can finally exchange 🤞

Requesting funds is a BIG leap forward, looking very good @Myci85 - all the best for exchange tomorrow or Thursday, and definitely Friday completion!

    ---

Semi-acceptable progress from the enemy solicitors this week -- they have received the final statutory declaration signed from the seller by post so submitted to the LR. I truly cannot understand why they waited, they could have submitted anyway... My mortgage offer now expires 28th February but I told them I'm offering elsewhere if I see anything, seems to have progressed things somewhat.

As the EA is also going on holiday until mid-Oct, and work and everything is going well, I'm going to leave house purchase things be.

I'm out of emotions after 8 months of this purchase, so I'm not going to micro-monitor it anymore.

I'll still keep looking for another house just in case, but not going to countdown until exchange anymore, for my peace of mind!

I'll be active in my debt-free diary over the next few weeks :) (knocking them down saving so much living at dad's) - maybe mid November we will be exchanged ready - if lucky...! See you all on the other side!

@annetheman I think accepting when you have no control to change things and managing to find a way to lessen its affect on you is for the best.

And thank you @RHemmings and @booksandbikes.

Since Monday it's continued to feel like one of those dreams where you're running but getting nowhere. Heard nothing yesterday. Chased midday today, response was that our solicitor has already chased this morning and would let me know update, mortgage funds release confirmed for Friday, and please can we send over payment for the completion statement. That's been paid, and solicitors closed for the day with no further progress.
  • We received the buyers report from the solicitor yesterday. All ok except the stamp duty they have quoted is wrong, and the postcode on the mortgage deed is incorrect as well. So have gone back to them, but hopefully they will turn those around quickly. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Well it's finally happened, at about 4.30pm today after yet another very tense day - we have exchanged! Completion day tomorrow.

After being on edge all day waiting, I don't know what to do with myself now!
