Well, there has finally been progress in the last 24 hours! We received the solicitor's report yesterday afternoon and they confirmed they are still working towards 27th for completion. Today I've been in to sign the documents (my partner is on his way in now after work) and so we will be ready to agree exchange.
The solicitor did mention today whilst I was signing, that our vendors have only just received the property information and fixtures and fittings form on their purchase (we had been given the impression everything was ready their end) so I'm hoping all is fine with these and that we'll finally own a house a week tomorrow!
I feel like I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel finally.2 -

I've received my mortgage offer for my single skin extension house - again. I am relieved but not thrilled. I'm sort of over this whole thing that started in January because I viewed 3 other houses the past week and do not like any of them as much as I liked this crappy, annoying house. And they were all £60k more, at minimum!
The enemy solicitors have promised to submit Title application NUMBER 3 this week... So, the cat and I wait. I'm not finding anything better! Will keep eyes open, though, and pay off loads of debt in the meantime
My solicitor is MIA. I am not sure she even exists (was she a bad dream???) but doesn't really matter because we will be waiting to exchange another 8 weeks at least, per Land Registry timelines!

Aye, aye, aye....
No further progress for us, my solicitor was back from annual leave today, and I'd hoped we might be a priority in her no doubt large backlog of work, but despite an email this afternoon checking how things are looking, I've heard nothing back. I think I've given up on completion this week now, but it would be nice to just get a date agreed and contracts exchanged.2 -

Maybe our solicitors are from the same school of mute-until-something-is-needed-at-the-very-last-minute! xDCurrent debt-free wannabe stats:Credit cards: £9,705.31 | Loans: £4,419.39 | Student Loan (Plan 1): £11,301.00 | Total: £25,425.70Debt-free target: 21-Feb-2027

I clearly underestimated just how frustrating the final stages of buying can be....
It is quarter past 4 on Friday, the date originally suggested as date for completion, and we still don't even have a date confirmed. After chasing solicitor on Tuesday, I finally heard that apparently our vendors are still waiting on some outstanding enquiries to be answered! I had an email on weds from the estate agent saying that he'd chased the estate agent at the top of chain, they had confirmed the final enquiries were now answered, and he was confident we'd be exchanging start of next week with completion early October. I forwarded this to my solicitor immediately, asking her to speak with vendor's solicitor to confirm and agree dates. Radio silence yesterday, so this morning I emailed for update. Nothing. Called at 2.30pm, she was with clients, will call back. Called at 3.30pm, she was unavailable, will call back. Called at 4pm, was put through, she hasn't heard anything from vendor's solicitor, has 'chased'. She said she guessed she would try calling them now and will come straight back to me.
I wonder if I'll hear anything before 5pm when they close for weekend?3 -

I have a good feeling about Monday. And I know how much this process makes you want weekends to whizz past! But have a good one anyway, and fingers crossed for start of the week exchange (which is better, anyway!)

Nothing my side. Enemy solicitors have been on holiday, apparently. In a fit of childish rage I did leave a negative Trustpilot review they're responded to... Not that it helped progress anything! I'll probably delete it.. Maybe..
The EA (who has been great) is going on holiday 2 Oct to 14 Oct so I really don't see any progress happening. Supposed to be submitting to Land Registry now - well, since 11 September - and without being pushed by EA, I don't see it happening (seller had a stroke and his daughter has young kids and isn't on top of this at all).
Sooooo yeah. Just happy to be paying off mega amounts of debt and have a little pot saved for the many repairs required...! Silver lining!Current debt-free wannabe stats:Credit cards: £9,705.31 | Loans: £4,419.39 | Student Loan (Plan 1): £11,301.00 | Total: £25,425.70Debt-free target: 21-Feb-2027

Thank you both.
Solicitor tried to call me back but my signal is rubbish so couldn't get through. She emailed to say she's spoken to seller's solicitor, they're hoping to be able to complete next Friday (feels like groundhog day) but at the moment the seller's seller is waiting on 'signed documents and so', so they can't exchange yet. I don't even know if by that she means the signed contract or some other documents. If the former and they're received on Monday, I guess maybe we might exchange Monday, complete Friday, but at this moment in time, I could fully see another week going by with no further movement! Positive thoughts... we'll get there in the end.
Any news your end @annetheman?2 -
Not a huge amount has changed since my last post:
12/06/2024 - Our house listed
15/07/2024 - Offer accepted on our house
05/08/2024 - Our buyer has survey on our house done
10/08/2024 - Viewed and offered on our onward purchase. Had offer accepted.
14/08/2024 - Our vendor has had an offer accepted on their onward purchase. Chain is now complete
22/08/2024 - Solicitors have started searches; we have answered queries from our buyer's solicitor
22/08/2024 - Mortgage application (porting) - which has been approved
23/08/2024 - Signed TR1 form, which is now with solicitors
26/08/2024 - Mortgage offer sent to solicitors
28/08/2024 - Survey done - happy with everytthing
02/09/2024 - Property Info Form and other docs received from seller
03/09/2024 - Hard copy of mortgage offer received
It looks like our sellers solicitor went on leave for a few weeks, as our solicitor was chasing them for enquiries they put through on 4th September. They returned from their leave last Thursday, came back to our solicitors on Friday. Solicitors have said they just have a few minor enquiries outstanding 'then we can start discussing dates'. 😬
Feel like it's been taking quite a while, but in all honesty looking at the dates above I'd say we are progressing faster than usual. Our buyer is happy and their solicitor has produced their 'buyer report' a couple of weeks ago. I feel like we are on the home stretch, but reading the above posts there can still be a lot of delays. 'Almost there' seems to drag on for a couple of weeks!! We did go back to the house to measure up a couple of weeks ago and met the vendor....she too was surprised by how quick things were progressing. Her solicitor told her it may all go through in September (obviously before she decided to go on leave for a few weeks, lol), which would have been too good to be true.
If all goes to plan, then we could be looking a completion before mid-October...hopefully??1 -
