Has anyone else struggles to find a witness to sign the deed?
    Saving for Christmas 2023 - £29/£365
    Make £2023 in 2023 - £0/£2023
  • Some great news for me this morning:

Land Reg have confirmed plans are accurate and my solicitor is happy to proceed towards exchange. We asked for exchange next Thurs and completion the following day but seller would like to complete on 3rd Feb. My solicitor has suggested completion 3rd Feb with earlier exchange (Thurs/Fri next week). My mortgage offer expires 8th Feb.

Is this too close to my offer expiring? Not entirely sure of the risks. Therefore waiting for a call back from my solicitor to ask a few questions about that.

All good though, sounds like just rudimentary standard admin and agreeing dates is all that's needed now. Allowing myself to get a little excited!

We got one of our neighbours to do it, I’ve had the village shopkeeper witness things in the past, work colleagues etc - should be fairly simple to find someone?

We've asked neighbours so far but struggling to find someone to actually do it. We'll have to pop round a friends to get this done. Tried the people in the shop downstairs and they didn't want to either.

How strange! Did your neighbours decline then?! Never known someone to say no! They’re not singing themselves up to anything!

    This is the reason.
Some people don’t understand that they are simply witnessing your signature on a document. They don’t need to know the contents.
I can understand complete strangers refusing, but neighbours?

If there is a problem witnessing the signature, pick up the doc from solicitor & the receptionist will sign, that's how I do mine .
