I had my survey yesterday and it's so bad that I'm pulling out.
I knew the house needed a new roof at some point in the near future but nope it needs one doing yesterday.
The timbers are soaked on the main roof, the chimney is damaged and damp the whole way down, the smaller roof has woodworm and is soaking wet.
I was expecting to have to spend 20k to fix some bits and modernise. He doesn't think I'll get much if any change from 50k.
And it's just not worth it. It's an ex LHA property and I'll never see the money again. That 50k will get me a bigger garden, another bedroom or detached in the next village/street.
Shame to be pulling out but it's going to have to be done!0 -
I have just been and picked up our final report, completion statement and contract from our solicitor.
Will read through everything after tea tonight and sign the dotted lines. All getting very real now!
I assume with the amount I’ve got to pay, I need to go into the bank and set a payment up in person? It’s a £35k deposit plus their fees so our balance is £36.something K to pay. I can pop into Nationwide and ask, but I assume it’s not something I can just do online as if I were paying a normal small bill.0 -

I just called the estate agent and they called the vendor’s solicitor, apparently now they say they are looking to exchange today and will be in touch with our solicitor. Unfortunately they have been saying in the last three weeks that they are “looking to exchange this week” too many times, and obviously every week it turned out they were still not ready, so I don’t have much hope for exchanging today. I know it’s going to happen eventually, but I won’t be surprised if they suddenly come up with something else after saying they are ready (which they have also said at least twice in the past).0

@1616six
That’s great news - sounds like it’s all ready to go for you. Definitely a bonus if you don’t have to pay another months rent.I’m gutted we’ve hit this snag because I really wanted to move before Xmas and I know our buyers wanted to be in their own first home but I don’t think it will happen now. Radio silence from both solicitors today.0 -
