Tentatively joining in, we had an offer accepted on Friday on a fantastic home after searching since November when ours went under offer (end of chain landlord). I viewed it on my own and was so excited for my partner and our kids to see it, so we arranged a second viewing for yesterday, which would be done with the vendors.

The reception from them was very frosty to say the least. The vendor stood a full 10 seconds staring at us through the glass door and we had to convince him were the buyers, he thought he was selling to another couple. Doh! He reluctantly let us in and we left after an awkward 10 minutes quickly looking round. This really put a dampener on the experience, he also said they put an offer on in a property and are waiting to hear back. The estate agent told me before the first viewing they had an offer already accepted and it was end of chain. Their previous house sale fell through recently because they took a while to find somewhere and the buyer pulled out, so this is concerning.

So as it stands, we don't know how things will proceed. After the vendors' reaction, I am not sure if they would still be committed to selling to us (my partner thinks I am being silly, no-one would be that irritational, I beg to differ).

Good luck to everyone on your sales / purchases!
Surprise surprise, our vendors decided to pull out and not sell their house anymore. Supposedly because they did a second viewing and didn't like the house they had an offer accepted on a few days ago. This is after making the previous buyer wait 8 months while they were looking for something.... Back to square one for us.

Received our final report on title and contract last night which I’ve just signed and emailed off… hoping for a smooth exchange today in our three part chain, with completion set for next Friday. I have a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge for tonight… fingers crossed.

We had word from our solicitor yesterday - our sellers are about to receive the final report on their purchase and the people they are buying from have had all enquiries answered on their purchase. Last people in the chain are now feeling more resigned to breaking the chain as their property is a probate. Apparently they have again said they won’t hold the chain up. Chain of 6 and 3 parties ready to exchange, 1 about a week or two away and the last is a probate

Good luck!!  I have seen some of your posts and sounds like you have a similar chain length to ours but yours seems to be moving quicker which gives me hope!   My solicitor told me to contact the estate agent for all chasing of the chain which makes me wonder why I'm paying her so much?!   Fingers crossed for us both in a speedy process

Joining in so it feels like I'm doing something productive while nervously waiting!

We accepted an offer from FTB on 16th Feb, memorandum didn't come through until 28th Feb.

We filled in and returned our paperwork straight away, our solicitor sent to theirs on 2nd March. Since then nothing. We've chased our solicitor for a week, and all we've had from them is "we've not had any replies, we will chase" but zilch.

Starting to make me nervous - I feel like our buyers might be purposely taking their time, but I just want to know. Would you put more pressure on for replies, or be more patient?

Probably waiting for searches to come back which can take a while depending on the local authority. I would at least ask for a status update and next steps.

    Hi!

    Tentatively joining this group!

We put our offer in 7th Feb which was accepted the same day.

We are FTBs and the vendor is moving in to a new build. She told us when we offered that it would be ready in a matter of weeks.

6 weeks later and we’ve had all searches done, mortgage decision, sent back all enquiries following our survey. Still a question as to whether the vendor is happy to get gas and electric checks (she’s under no obligation but we thought we would ask as we’re taking all the minor works on ourselves). Don’t expect her to say no.

I’m guessing the next stage is exchange once we hear back on the above. If she won’t pay for them we’re happy to anyway.

Can’t wait to get an expected exchange date really! I don’t mind the wait but I like having a fixed date to work towards really, and it is so stressful just relying on everyone else to get things done!

Our solicitor is on holiday from today until Wednesday so hopefully it will allow time for the vendor to come back on the checks.

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else in the same boat! I’m really hoping we can complete by the end of may, ideally sooner. Am I being unrealistic?
