  • Hope everyone is getting on ok and staying safe in the snow xxxx
  • Hello Skatealexia, welcome!

Sassysaver, if it's any consolation when things do get going stuff *can* get sorted really quick. We sorted out some stuff directly with our vendors then each instructed our solicitors to note in writing what we'd agreed. It was quicker than waiting for their letter exchanges!

I'm (unusually) pleased to say that snow is now heavy rain in London, but it's still a little dodgy where we are going tomorrow so we will probably overtake the removal van on the train.

Packers are in today so I'm like a spare part in my own home, surrounded by a little fortress of "essentials" they're forbidden from boxing up til tomorrow. Their efficiency is astonishing and slightly intimidating lol!
  • I'm so so close, all i need to do now to exchange is get the money to my SOL, but my Help To Buy ISA is taking forever to close.

I submitted the closure on thursday and still nothing, its such a pain. in the meantime though i will send him £1 and check he has got it, and then full steam ahead!

Glad the snow hasnt caused too many issues for those of you moving!
  • Welcome skatealexia
So, our solicitors have decided to play nicely after a week of arguing then sulking at each other :rotfl: for now at least! Exchange & completion is this Friday 15th :j  better get packing & cleaning & unpacking in the new house, very busy week ahead
  • So our update, our buyer is chasing our solicitor for exchange/completion dates.

We’re chasing our solicitor for exchange/completion dates!!!

Our solicitor won’t take calls, part of his underlings are off..we’re awaiting a response via email :/

Everything is hanging on our solicitor pulling their finger out atm. We need final figures to any money for deposit they might need from us and that’s it.

Fed up now of not being able to book removals or even to sort out transferring schools for my kids it’s a nightmare over Xmas!

Meanwhile not know what’s going to happen I’m packing everything in sight lol! Moving house is one of the most ridiculous processes ever!
  • It's with slight trepidation that I join this thread! Here is my timeline so far:

Our house on market - 10th October
We accepted offer - 4th December
Our offer on purchase house accepted - 11th December
    Solicitors instructed - 11th December

I need to get a mortgage application meeting in. Feeling excited but also terrified. Seems like such a monumental decision. What if we move in and then hate it for some reason?! I have been stalking the new house. There is a slightly yappy terrier living next door. Otherwise all looks lovely.

  • I know that worry well Vicki. We get the keys to ours on Thursday and we've only viewed the place once, in September! I'm convinced that we've made a big mistake and we're going to move in and it will be smaller than we remembered and have none of the charm. Maybe it was all down to their furniture etc?
I can't wait to get in there and remember why I fell in love with it. I probably should have booked another viewing to measure up towards the end of the process.

Saying that, my Grandma says she had the same worries when they bought their house, and they've been there for more than 40 years now. They clearly made the right choice and the worries were just nerves.
  • We are having some real silly problems, the mortgage company will NOT agree that the house has 4 bedrooms..it clearly does have 4 bedrooms so i don't understand what the issue is, the mortgage is approved and they valued it all okay just wont agree that it is a 4 bedroom..no idea if this is going to cause issues for us or why they are so adamant is only a 3 bed ..i just don't understand ?!

Estate agents called last week and asked where everything was as they had been advised our buyer hasn't received anything :@ slightly annoying as we sent it off pretty much straight away ..ho hum ..find it all a bit much at the moment !
  • :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Yay, finally - it's all going to be fine - i'm feeling a bit fed up at the moment as it's taking forever and Christmas can just sort of do one ...feels like forever since we heard from our solicitors, plus now we have a sticking point with the valuation ( it's all okay they just wont agree with the number of bedrooms) ..anyway yippeeee for you :)

Monday of updates from me too: the lender came back with their valuation and they agree with the offer price! A couple of points on their report tell me they didn't even bother getting in the house or just look at its LR titles (say, the valuator stated the property was build in 2011 instead of 2004 and has shorter lease than it really has), but they're still keen on lending to me!
Too bad they want some additional form signed and they're sending it in the post...and no offer till they have it back signed! So here it goes another week of worrying from the mortgage front :(

The solicitor hasn't made any noise in the last few days, so I'm starting my daily stalking email: he better answers, cause I'm quite good at nagging and chasing and annoying! I'm not expecting any big deal from him, but it'd be nice to know at which point we are and if he has any query for the vendors (I have no clue what I'd ask them tbh, so I'm not prompting him with anything).

Xmas is coming closer and closer, and my hopes of exchanging before then are getting slimmer (while I put on weight cause I nervously eat all the Xmas cakes/chocolates/biscuits appearing in the office). My main worry is that a higher offer comes in over Xmas (even if the property is listed ad SSTC) and I have to start again...and this time I find myself homeless cause my current flatmate has replaced me :(
