Today was supposed to be moving day! Trying not to think about that when we haven't jumped the exchange hurdle still - now attempt day 8.

I have done what is rapidly becoming a daily ritual of calling the removals company to check availability is still there, then providing my solicitor and EA with authority to exchange.

    #groundhogday

I have given up looking at the phone and emails for an update. You never know, I might get a good surprise later :-)

    Everything crossed for you!

Well, it hasn't happened yet... just asked for an update and whether I need to get back onto my seller's EA yet again?

It can only be one of two things now - either the FTB's mortgage funds being returned hasn't yet been confirmed so cant be re-requested, or PPL are not answering their phones. Neither would surprise me at this point.

Bad news this end. Our solicitor chased this morning only to be told that the bottom of the chain are in the process of extending their lease. Erm, what??!
At no point have we been told this. Three weeks ago we were told "just the management pack", then last week "just a couple of enquiries, should be done by the end of the week" and now there's yet another lease extension to contend with, which could take months!
I feel like tearing my hair out. Why can't they just be honest and keep us informed. I feel like we clearly went with the wrong buyer and they've been hoodwinking us ever since to stop us pulling out.

Now I've got to make a decision about what to do going forward. We'll lose the girls school places if we don't exchange in the next couple of weeks and will have to wait until January for more annual leave if its much longer than that too.
Oof; that's brutal. Do you know how far down the process they are?! I'd be really, really irritated at that.

Aarrgghh how long can this take?! I'm frustrated for you; and I'm not involved! I really hope someone updates you soon, and that it happens today 🤞

  • We've had a call from our seller's estate agent confirming that we're ready to go when our buyer is...

And our solicitor has confirmed that she's sent everything over to the buyers... so it's all just waiting on the buyer's solicitor to review it all on Thursday.

I'm really, really hoping we can just do one round of enquiries, and then set dates. Everyone is keen to go. We did three sets with the last buyer, so hopefully the obvious questions are all answered...

  • So this is my timeline
    27/7/21 offer accepted
    27/7/21 solicitor instructed
    2/8/21 mortgage application submitted
    3/9/21 mortgage offer
11/10/21 firts attempt to exchange but my solitor informed me that the bottom of the chain have to draw down their help to buy funds . The account has been closed but they are awaiting a letter in the post which is expected today. She said as soon as they have it, they are ready.
    We will try again tomorrow.
    25/10/21 suggested completion day

Good luck! Hope you manage to exchange tomorrow 🤞
I have asked my solicitor first thing in the morning and she said she would chase them.
    Complete silence from 11:00
I do not know what to think. Is this normal?

No idea, this is the first we've heard of it. We were told our buyer's buyer was doing a lease extension back in July (about two weeks after accepting an offer based on everyone else being ready) and that was concluded in early September. Since then we've been waiting on their buyer (buyer's buyer's buyer and bottom of the chain) to confirm they're ready only for them now to say they're extending the lease.
So either we've not been properly informed of what's happening or they've only just decided to do it. 😔

We are due to exchange tomorrow. The sol hasn’t asked for our deposit yet so hoping it’s all still on track 🤞🏻
  • Another day passes and no further progress. No idea why such simple things take so long
