    We're in!

Hope everyone else is getting on okay. Got a bit long to read back on all I've missed since last week.

Actually very stressful just before the move - I was extremely anxious about my cats and how my OH was going to cope with moving as he adored the last house.

So far - absolutely no regrets. This house now feels so much nicer. The pics and layout when we viewed were terrible. It feels twice the size now. Can't wait to decorate. Cats (both around 10 years old) are coping fine although starting to want to venture outside - going to leave it another couple of weeks if poss before I let them. Might let one out as she's a fat lump who won't get over the fence. The other is lean and lively and will be straight over the top like a rat up a drain.

We have really snazzy things like a sensor light in the bathroom over the sink. Comes on when you tread on the bottom stair to go upstairs and if you come out the bedroom in the night. Took me bloody ages to work it out as we just thought it was a light that had been left on and we couldn't find a switch to turn the damn thing off - burning fingers in the process lol!

Boiler is definitely on its last legs which is annoying, and the removal men bashed a hallway light so it's hanging by wires from the ceiling (which they're now denying despite the EA telling me they'd be back to fix it when I collected keys).

We completed by around 9.30am - never had that before  Purchase took much longer. I cried when the solicitor told me which totally caught me by surprise. Must have been relief.

    Good luck all! x

I swear my broker and my solicitors are on a mission to just wind me up.

I got an email from my SOL at 5:25pm telling me that our amended mortgage offer is still wrong, so it means another week to sort that out, only i checked it when i got home to my posted copy and its absolutely fine!! God knows what they were looking at, but it cant have been our offer! I did not need that mini heart attack tyvm.

Then our broker has been saying for the last week that a letter was sent to my work to confirm employment and they'll get it any day now, i chased 3 times and he said he would chase them, still no letter 7 days later.....

I give up and call the lender myself, and they hadn't sent anything and weren't going to! they were waiting for my work to contact them directly. Absolute joke. I don't understand why it seems to be so hard for him to just be honest about whats going on, it only means i'm chasing him more!

:j :j :j Congratulations hazyjo! So pleased you're in and enjoying it :j

    JoJo, hope exchange happens today...

Good luck to everyone else who's waiting too...

No news here, although building society have finally received mortgage acceptance letter which is a relief. Suspect solicitor forgot to send it as it was suspiciously received the day aftet I chased him... :rotfl:

Other than that we're all just waiting for our buyers to find a new buyer. Their house went back on the market around the 17th I think but not heard anything yet. Clearly not going to be in for Christmas but do NOT want to go back on the market ourselves so fingers crossed they find someone soon...

Haven't given them a time frame but I suspect neither us nor our buyers will want to market again in the run up to Christmas anyway. If they're stil waiting in January we'll see...
  • Hazyjo, Yay! :j:j:j Sounds lovely....hope you'll both be very happy there!
I'm sure your cats will be fine, but I'd definitely keep them in for a bit longer if possible.......not too long though, as when we moved here we kept our old boy (14 years at the time) in for six weeks, by which time he wasn't keen to venture out at all and rarely did so till he passed away this Summer aged 17 :(
    Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Oh dear Katapolt. Our broker has shown similar levels of incompetence sadly - it's SO vexing when it's recommended to use them because they can make the process easier! Next time (not that I'm ever moving house again after this) I'll be doing everything myself!

Me too Cheery Daff! i know the experience isnt exactly meant to be fun, but im going to bite my tongue and just push for the whole process to be over. Its a shame as he was reccomended by a friend, and i dont know if its just because im a control freak or hes lazy, but whatever it is it isnt working!

Still i finally got some documents from my SOL which is comforting, i was starting to worry theyd forgotten to do anything.

i hope your chain situation gets sorted soon!

Oh Cheerydaff I'm not sure we'll ever know the truth:

Buyers funds emerged from the international bank transfer ether this morning so it was game on. Our solicitor releases contracts on our sale and purchase.

Chain check reveals the cockwombles above our vendors who have been threatening repeatedly retract their authority to exchange 'because it didn't happen yesterday'

No one believes their reason given, of course. Our vendors are gobsmacked to the extent that they refused to exchange too.

Cue three sets of estate agents totting up their likely losses and leaping into action. And our stunned buyer in Singapore getting the coffee pot on as he prepares to wait up into the night to learn if anything is salvageable.

DH and I now trying to have a serious conversation about what we'll do next (this is a relocation move for us) while we wait to hear news. But quite frankly we're struggling because our game faces have been slapped hard.

    :(

Good grief. Can't believe people can be such fiends. What possible benefit can they get by pulling out now, literally as you're about to exchange?! They're going to have to go through everything again! Aarrgghh!

Sounds like a large bit of cake (or a stiff drink) might be in order...
