Our solicitor has set a deadline for the end of today for the top of the chain to agree to our completion date next week.
To be honest I have almost zero confidence in their ability to do anything right, and I fully expect them to just ignore the deadline like they have everything else. Very tempted to pull out completely if they can't do this.1 -
Solicitor got back to me today. My seller finally agreed to indemnity insurance and now we're ready to exchange. The seller, however, who previously said all legalwork was done and was waiting on me, now suddenly has loads of outstanding enquiries left. He said he was 'sure' it'll be dealt with early next week.
I haven't heard a peep from my buyer since early June- hopefully he's still waiting and hasn't found anything else.12/03/21 - House put up for sale
05/04/21 - Offer accepted for sale of house
10/04/21 - DIP approved
13/04/21 - Offer accepted on purchase of house
28/04/21 - Mortgage application made
30/04/21 - Mortgage offer received
15/06/21 - Searches ordered
28/06/21 - Searches received
22/07/21 - Enquiries raised
03/08/21 - Enquiries returned, 1 outstanding issue
19/08/21 - Enquiries on purchase satisfied. Ready to exchange
08/09/21 - Exchanged
10/09/21 - Due to complete0 -

Our seller's solicitor has ignored 4emails from ours over the past week. Its making me very angry and very anxious.
Hopefully you (and I) will get more information very soon.2 -

Toots0293 said:Hi! I’ve sent off my contract / final bits for signing, which will be with my solicitors today. The sellers solicitor already has their paperwork. I’ve transferred my deposit.. any ideas how long exchange might be from now? FTB here, so no idea if the actual exchange is a quick or slow process.. (or is it the standard “how long is a piece of string” scenario)
Solicitor seems hopeful we might complete as early as next week, but this final stage of waiting for a date is agonising. We are so close and starting to mentally move into the house, but aware that it could still fall apart! I wish you luck (and a short chain!)
