Got a verbal agreement on completion and moving on the 18th from everyone in the chain, just waiting on solicitor to confirm they've seen & got everything they need & are happy to get the bank side of things rolling 🤞
Do you have a proposed exchange date yet?

We just got confirmation that we're good to attempt exchange tomorrow with completion on 21st,so finally something to get excited about!

What actually happens on exchange day? If we're FTB in a chain of 7, do we exchange first or is the exchange only valid once the entire chain is done?
You dont really 'agree' an exchange date, when all solicitors agree everything is in order and a completion date agreed, they'll ask you for permission to exchange and then it can happen anytime.... As long as it happens on one day. My understanding is it happens by a series of phone calls up the chain then back down the to the bottom again to confirm all parties have exchanged

Our searches are back a week early! Yay. Now just waiting for the report and to see if it brings any more enquiries. My husband is far to chilled about this haha. "It will happen when it happens"

This morning I discovered the EA dealing with the progression is on annual leave for 2 weeks, lost all hope of handing in notice next week. Luckily got an email from someone handling his workload and she is now chasing the solicitor on our behalf, and said the vendor is as keen as we are so now firmly crossing everything that we might still do it in time!

Completion statement received at 2.40pm - queue mad rush to the bank to send CHAPS payment - missed the cut off for today so they should get it by 6pm at the latest tomorrow (fingers crossed they get it in the morning and we can collect the keys before we pick our children up from school!)

so the plan is exchange and complete tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone going through the process.
We made our offer in April and to date have had our mortgage offer back, survey and searches and a draft contract from the vendors. Our solicitors have been a bit slow on keeping us updated on what has been left to sort but our estate agent has helped to push things more. I feel we just get ignored when we try and ask for updates.
Our solicitors had their responses to enquires back last week so fingers crossed we’re getting closer to agree on exchange and completion dates.

My update today: no update. Haven't heard from anyone, apart from the EA yesterday evening, who said she didn't manage to speak with the seller's solicitor, although she tried to call for most of the day. The seller herself is ready and has sent all info requested, but her solicitor is simply not responding to anyone. I'm losing all hope really, this is so ridiculous, we should have exchanged at least 1 weeks ago, and we are still here awaiting for an answer from their solicitor about dates who are now both in the past!!
