This viewing is mainly just so that we can measure up the rooms, spaces for freestanding appliances and things such as curtains which we'll need to order and to double check the minor work we will need to do once we have keys. Do most people do a final viewing before exchange or is it something sellers don't really like to agree to?
We're keen to get things moving/be prepared to order items as soon as we've exchanged/almost completed as we will only have limited time off from work to move.
Glad you've had a decent solicitor. We asked friends for recommendations but when we contacted those recommendations, they didn't respond. Too popular, perhaps? Ours are fast in replying to emails but you can count on them to ignore at least one question per email (and I've also tried sending only one question, but then you get half a response!).
I've noticed quite a few people saying that if/when solicitor's reply, they seem to skip questions - I don't get why they can't just answer them in one go! My colleagues do this frequently and it drives me up the wall! Sometimes a polite but firm 'referring back to my question XXX' and repasting the question in bold seems to do the trick!0 -

Ugh. Meant to be completing this Thursday and still waiting for the sellers solicitor to send over a statement showing apportionments (leasehold property). Our solicitor emailed sellers solicitor again to chase today but still waiting. Not holding breath we’ll complete this week!0

Been lurking here for a few months, but first time posting.
FTB, put offer on a house late January, applied for mortgage early February with Barclays. We have been waiting for our mortgage offer since then. 2 weeks ago we received a letter from Barclays that said our mortgage application had been 'closed' with no indication as to why, or if that meant declined or accepted. Well we spoke to our mortgage advisor on the same day and apparently it was an IT error on the mortgage lenders side and he is having someone chase them every day for an update, yet here we are 2 weeks later with nothing. It's getting a bit much at this point like it's never going to happen.

Hello everyone! After 4 weeks of silence waiting for the answer to an enquiry our solicitors have emailed today saying we are ready to exchange immediately they just need sellers confirmation. No chain property so should be good to go! I dont know how to feel right now, its all rushed full steam ahead somehow.
Hope you all get some good news soon x1 -
Yet another update
been at my parents....mum phoned their solicitors while I was there, their solicitors have been emailing the wrong person!!!! Instead of clicking reply to our solicitors they’ve been @ someone else. Dear god I could cry with frustration. Only 3 enquiries which are easy to send back over we could have exchanged and completed last month.Losing the will to live0
