@caz_cardiff87 – I can’t imagine bank transferring that kind of money, I would have gone into meltdown! Hope you exchange today, all the best of luck!

@Justonemorecupoftea – fingers crossed your survey comes back today, and isn’t full of nasty surprises.

@ZSC – another step closer, hope you exchange soon, I know what you mean about not counting your chickens, it’s how I have felt for weeks now!

@Izzwzz – set your expectations low, then anything more is a bonus!

@BountyBlink – oh that’s as good as you could have hoped for! Hope you can apply some pressure and get a quick turnaround, fingers crossed so tight for you!

@cherrypancakes – sounds like you’re getting closer! You’d need your title report and contracts, which are released once all searches are done and enquiries are complete.

@laura_lau – I have never had a reassuring solicitor’s email yet, I don’t think they exist! Hope you can exchange and complete on your dates, fingers crossed!

@climbthatwallseegar – I don’t blame you, I did the same with my vendor last night, just a friendly please nudge your solicitor please message lol.

@firsttimesellerldn – we agreed a completion date 2 weeks ago, still haven’t exchanged. It just seems to be a mirage, that doesn’t exist! Hope you can achieve it soon, it does give peace of mind!

@naomibm – really hope you do exchange today, fingers crossed for you!

@rosierunner – wow, that is fast. Hope you exchange today too, seems to be a few of us lined up waiting! Hope the move goes smoothly.

@Saddlerstu – oh no, that was like our buyer. It’s so stressful. Hopefully it’s just a threat to move things along, as surely even a week later would be quicker than starting again at this point. Hang on in there.

Ok, so my update. STILL HAVEN'T EXCHANGED. FMAL.
Not sure what happened all day yesterday, clearly not a lot. I think our buyer's solicitor was waiting for a document, then by the time that was sorted and my solicitor got on to the vendor's solicitor, and they rang the vendor, it was past 5pm and too late.
Honestly, it seems to be like rounding up stray cats.
Anyway, so we try again. Not holding out much hope with it being a pre-bank holiday Friday. I don't think I can stand 3 days of uncertainty. We actually exchanged on my sale yesterday, and had I known I'd be waiting 5 days for our other sale and purchase to follow, I wouldn't have agreed. I can't stand another 3 days of the stress, we need to confirm the removals van, need to know whether to pack, we are just stuck in limbo. We agreed a completion date 11 days ago, we should not still be waiting to exchange, it's a total joke!

@Natbag Thanks, hoping it's just a case of them throwing their weight around to put pressure on. It's certainly working on me if not the solicitor 🤣
  • AAAHHHHH I am at wits end. Our chain was completed 2 weeks ago. My solicitor called me to say our sellers were signing in readiness to exchange, but I called them to say they were purchasing a house above, do we know what stage their paperwork is. He then said, they haven't been made aware they were purchasing another house. He called their solicitors and they didn't know they were purchasing another property even thought the memo of sale had been sent to them. Their solicitor called our sellers who said yes they were purchasing another house.... why didn't they tell their solicitors!! I am soooo angry right now this has been an absolute nightmare. What is wrong with people. So it has been 2 weeks and nothing has been moving or even started on their side for paperwork!

    Bye Bye STD holiday

Bottom of our chain now threatening to pull out if we can't complete by the 4th June, still no answers about the issues at the top of the chain, and my solicitor is now on holiday until Wednesday. I am never moving house again once(if) this ever completes lol
We're bottom of the chain and I feel like doing this every day! I presume they've been in this process the longest? But if they're anything like us it will be an empty (and silly) threat - nobody wants to start again having come so far.

Hah I sent a brilliant hysterical the other week, I played all 3 of my cards... Mortgage expiry, new job start date and dying (now sadly deceased) father...... Still didn't get me v bloody far!!!!
I’m so sorry about your father, certainly puts my woes into perspective. Fingers crossed the rest of your journey is a lot smoother!

The freeholder did actually respond after my late evening hysterical email but it’s like they are toying with me. They answered one of the three queries and said the others will be answered “in due course”. They’ve done this every day over the past 2 weeks. One.answer. at.a.time. It’s like death by a thousand tiny cuts (I know it’s the not the right analogy but I’m not thinking straight these days). At one point I accused them of trying to sabotage the sale and hold me hostage in my current property. I imagine they had a good chuckle at that before slowly responding. With an answer to just one enquiry, of course.

@sw7 hope they see it that way, personally think it would be crazy to pull out when it's hopefully only an extra week (if top of the chain can sort out their issues).

Solicitor not answering her phone/not at her desk. Bet they are busy with completions, and I'm at the bottom of the pile, so we'll just end up not exchanging again today if they all leave it until the last half-hour and they all clock off early for the bank holiday. What do I have to do to get them to just do it already?! Or talk to me?! It's been 11 days since we agreed the completion date now, everything is done and this should have been done last week, all they need to do is all get together at the same time and sort it. It shouldn't be this difficult. Yet here we are.

Has anyone purchased white goods/furniture from their vendor? If so, when did you pay? I'm thinking of offering a bank transfer at exchange or completion because I don't really want to get it muddled with mortgage payments (it'll be less than £500).

@rosierunner definitely agree with you, the process in England needs reforming, I'm heading into month 6, there is just me, a FTB, buying a chain free property. That is it. Just me buying one property and still 6 months on, I'm still here. After the bank holiday, I'm going to start pestering everyone daily because I really want to complete by the stamp duty deadline. I'll only be paying £1k in stamp duty if I don't make it but I'm renovating the whole flat and it's costing a pretty penny so I'd rather have that £1k in my pocket!

@Natbag damn, I'm really hoping it comes through today, I keep coming back to the thread hoping to see good news from you

@justwanttomove sorry to say, it seems like there are some complete airheads over there, how do you not tell your solicitor you're buying elsewhere?!!
