You are definitely doing the right thing. My buyers survey was done end of March and when we still didn’t have an offer a month later I should have just listed my property again rather than wait patiently only for them to then pull out anyway!
Yes, my GF's valuation was done 4 weeks ago and we keep being told 'soon'.  We've given them 2 more days to get their broker to get a definitive decision from HSBC or it's going back on this week.  I had a general chat with the HSBC mortgage team on Saturday about the situation and they said the buyer must be missing important docs if it's taking this long.
It’s so frustrating isn’t it, we were told multiple times by their solicitor that they had been told the mortgage offer would be with them by the end of the week, then when we chased it was just a few more days etc. In hindsight I was too patient and should have told them to shove it sooner! I really hope you get some answers soon, being in limbo is horrible!

Just been told that my seller has changed their mind about moving and won't be selling at all.
17 weeks into the process and they drop this bombshell. My sale was ready last month and so was the paperwork for their house, it's their onward sale that's been dragging.
    Feel totally, completely fed up.

So sorry to hear this - this is horrid. I do hope they change their mind, or something even better is around the corner waiting for you.

No news here. Our Estate Agent has been speaking to our buyer today about options for renting out our house if they can't move in immediately, obviously hoping to move us to exchange before that happens. The buyer seemed keen on the idea last week, and we're hoping that their interest hasn't dampened over the weekend.

Both our solicitor and the buyer's solicitor haven't helped with chasing the sale along, so all communication now seems to be going via our Estate Agent...

Given we had set a deadline to exchange and complete for 30 April, we are in a position where we really need to see some sign of commitment from our buyer this week.... :(

That's just the EA trying to keep you sweet, it's never going to happen. For a start they won't be allowed if they have a residential mortgage and that's ignoring the fact that if they let a tenant in now it could take them years to legally evict when they are ready to move in.

Me and my vendor are merrily throwing potential dates around to be met with complete silence by everyone in the rest of the chain Inc all solicitors 😂🤦‍♀️ slightly wary of completing on a Friday before a bank holiday with 7 of us in the chain but don't want to be awkward IF everyone else can do it!

We are now re-listing my GF's house as the buyer can't get their mortgage offer.  We don't know what the problem is exactly as neither the broker or buyers will tell us (the EA thinks it's due to an overseas gifted deposit).  However, it's now a month since the valuation and given they won't provide any information, enough is enough.

I am going to try and get a mortgage to cover the shortfall with our new build and hope to re-sell her's reasonably quickly.  If I can't get the mortgage, then it's £5k down the drain and I have to decide whether to go ahead with my sale and then rent for a bit.  Her buyers were her first viewers and put in an offer same day without a 2nd viewing.  Should have known it was too good to be true.  So disappointing.

Really vague replies today chasing whether the top of my chain had their deed of covenant sorted.
Solicitor says they’re still awaiting confirmation of dates
Estate agent emailed me at the end of the day and said she’d spoken to the other two members of the chain who have confirmed they’ve signed their contracts (the TR1 form I believe?) she asked if I had signed mine. I did a couple of weeks ago.
No actual confirmation that the covenant thing had been sorted
She’s under the impression we’ll complete on Friday. We haven’t exchanged yet!
My solicitor hasn’t asked for any deposit funds, and I’m assuming she hasn’t asked for the mortgage funds to be released either. I checked the Lloyds website and they say it takes 5-7 working days to release. I just can’t see it happening.
I wish they’d stop dangling the carrot.
I’ll be absolutely amazed if I get handed these keys on Friday.
So frustrated as I had talking myself down from stress/anxiety of the weekend and had accepted it’s probably not going to be his week.
    Tomorrow is a new day!

Long time lurker ready to join.

We are on month 5 of our sale/purchase
Jan: Flat up for sale, first offer recieved and accepted. House found offer accepted.
feb: first buyer pulls out relist new offer 3 days later waiting for the viewing before we accept another offer receive with 24hrs for 5000 more higher offer accepted.
March: relist as the new buyer is messing us about ask EA to contact the over person who put in a lower offer. Offer reinstated and sold subject to conditions for the third time (Vendor seems happy)
April: mortgage offers on both properties received ours was a long wait due to job contract issues and original product offer expired.
May: waiting on enquiries and searches.
Today we received an intruim invoice for searches but we were under the impression that searches had started 3 weeks ago 😩 after verbal confirmation to start them and an email last week saying the search were the only thing outstanding on the purchase. Does anyone have any experience with receiving a search invoice after search has started or would this mean they are only just started 😤 and we are looking at another month of waiting.

We're very aware of all this - ultimately our buyer's choice if they want the risk.

From our side, our Estate Agent has nothing to gain by pursuing a dud of a sale.

Obviously, every chance it could fall apart! It's more likely than not. But it feels worth giving our buyer a week to decide rather than relist immediately...
