    Hi all,
FTB here, long time reader but first time posting (apart from the odd question!)
I had my offer accepted on 20th April so I'm in the really early days still. I've had my mortgage offer through and have instructed my solicitor.
I've also provisionally booked a homebuyers survey for next week, however I'm thinking of pushing that back as I don't believe the vendor has found anywhere to move to yet. The EA has said she'd keep me informed, but I'll probably phone at the end of this week and see what progress has been made.
It feels like it's a bit too early to have the survey? Any advice would be appreciated!

Yep, don’t instruct a survey or searches until you have a complete chain above. Just keep badgering the agent you are buying through asking if they have Gould anything, have they viewed or offered on anything etc. Don’t be afraid to chase down to ensure your vendor finds. But always ask the question “do we have a complete chain yet” and tell the agent that you are instructed your solicitors to not start searches and surveyor will not be booked until there is a complete chain. Otherwise you could just be wasting money... hope that helps and good luck, it’s all quite simple when you get started and people on here will help you loads navigate it

My searches are finally back after 6 weeks. Leasehold pack from the vendor still hasn't arrived though.

Hi all, sorry to hear some of you are still having major hold ups, delays and general stuckness.  I really hope you all get some good news soon.
Quick update from me, 16 weeks tomorrow since I accepted the offer on my flat.  My solicitor was waiting on one enquiry to be answered by the LA which should have been in last Tuesday, but they sent it today instead.  I also had an asbestos survey done this morning which the surveyor said was fine - no asbestos here people!  I'm hoping (and crossing EVERYthing) that once the buyer reviews the asbestos survey that there are no more enquiries, and dare I say it, we can start talking about dates.  Or am I being ridiculously green here?

Our last sale also fell through at this point so the delays are causing us so much anxiety...
Must be so hard to go through all this again. I have a feeling ours could collapse at exchange too (few reasons to think that), but I'd be delighted to be proved wrong. Really hope you get there safely this time - the delays hurt though!

@Natbag Sorry to hear about the stress. I've wondered throughout this whether direct contact with buyer & seller would help. Judging by your experience I'm not so sure though. Those texts sound pretty intemidating, especially when you're not in control of the situation. Good luck this week though!

Sounds reasonable to me. Hope you have dates on the table by end of the week. Good luck!

Our mortgage offer expires 13 June, so we are up against it lol!
Good news that dates are being discussed at least. Yes, we're in same position with offer expiry in June. Given we were expecting to make first SD deadline, can't believe we're now in danger of missing second deadline AND having to extend mortgage offer. Let's  hope we both make it okay!

Good luck to everyone. So near and still so far 😔
We visited our new place on Monday to measure windows and have a proper look as we were only in there 5 mins last time. It was so good to go back and see it again after 3 months and helped to make the stress seem a bit more worthwhile!
Annoyingly the vendors onward purchase won't be ready until early June, we have been ready since mid-April. I don't feel too stressed by this at the moment but if we get to mid-June and we are still waiting it will be a different story!

@Wren14 Good luck to you and everyone with endless waits at the moment (glad you still love your new property ☺️). There seem to be high levels of stress this week, so hopefully there's some good news for a few of us soon.
