We were pleased when two weeks ago, our buyer started suggesting completion dates.
Since then, we've heard nothing from them and apparently the estate agent can't get ahold of them or their conveyancer, although I dont trust anything our estate agents says anymore (fun sidenote: we asked our estate agent who the branch manager was so we could make a complaint about them. Our estate is the branch manager).
So we've asked the EA that if they do manage to contact the buyer, to pass on that if an exchange date isn't agreed by the end of this week, we're putting our house back on the market.
It's been such a trudging s**tfest of ineptitude, complacency, lies, anxiety and worry that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to experience the emotion of happiness ever again.
Weird how as soon as you throw your teddies out the pram, you get an immediate response.
So either it was entirely coincidental that the second we threaten something, we get an answer from someone who apparently couldn't be reached for the last two weeks, or the estate agent was telling little fibs when they said they'd been trying to ring them for the past two weeks.
Of course if the estate agent hadn't already told us a bunch of fibs already, this option would be less feasible.
Either way, it infuriates me that it seems like we have to get angry at people, for things to happen.
The buyer was apparently very apologetic, and claims that they'll still be going ahead with things.
We asked to pass on our email address so the buyer could contact us directly, but so far, nothing.
They claim that the delay was because their mortgage offer paperwork hadn't reached their conveyancer and that the mortgage company only deal with physical copies, no emails etc.
But then their conveyancer seemed to have miraculously received this paperwork the very next day.
They want to organise exchange of contracts early next week, which is great.
Except our conveyancer is on annual leave Monday and Tuesday.
But they do say their colleagues will do the work if necessary.
So I'm sure it'll all go absolutely swimmingly, first thing on Monday morning.
I'm sure it will.
So sure.
It will.
Hm hmmm.
Yup.

It's the lack of courtesy that's puzzling. Why agree an exchange and completion date only to change your mind on the day? I could have hired movers, taken time off work etc. Why not say before?
I am partly tempted to just leave this particular house. It's not even my dream house 😂2 -

I try to look on the bright side - if they can get there I can too. But it is extremely frustrating.. especially as one of their buyers originally offered on my flat but I turned them down for another buyer as they weren’t proceedable at the time. I try not to dwell on that!1

If anyone else joins this thread and leave with their house before me I'll sue you! 🤣
