So my question still stands, are you avoiding London, , Manchester, Paris and Hamburg too? Or is that different?

TOURISTS weren't the prime targets in 9/11./QUOTE]
No but they were still killed. Tourists weren't the target in London but we're still killed.

Oh dear. Tourists may have been killed in 9/11 and London, but tourists were not the target. Can you really not tell the difference?

The were killed because they were westerners, looked like tourists, were in a tourist resort, along with the other tourist who were injured at the same time and in the previous attack in Jan 2016.

Why would I, I would not be a specific target in any of those locations.

TOURISTS are specific targets in Egypt and Tunisia. Not people going about their everyday business in the wrong place at the wrong time, people who have gone to those countries with the sole purpose of tourism who are targeted BECAUSE they have chosen to do so.

If you really cannot see the difference because you are so much in denial I feel quite sorry for you.

Now you're missing the point. The terrorists are attacking us wherever we are. Tourist or not you are a target in the world we live in today. When this country is under attack, you have just as much chance eating caught up in it as you would being a tourist somewhere.
    In denial, hilarious!
Who's in denial that you are any safer here?

    No from me too.

But I am speaking from experience here.... about ten years ago. Never ever again. That was Port al Kantoui.

Hotel was fine, but it was hell outside the hotel grounds. I am a very mature lady and even though I was accompanied I was propositioned. Awful. The shopkeepers harass you to go inside. Leave me alone!

Not a good atmosphere at all IMV. It is all hassle hassle hassle.

I did enjoy El Jem and Carthage though. But it was an organised tour so we were sequestered I guess.

No one could take any pics near the dictator's house. It was all very odd.

I will hold my hands up and say I do not like Muslim countries. Well I didn't until I went there. Egypt and Morocco the same. But at least I tried them before ranting.

Such a shame, we went about 16yrs ago (husband to be at the time...since elevated to status of husband :D and me) I had long blonde hair, early 20s ...wasn't propositioned once...not even for one scabby camel. OH had a couple of 'offers' from men mind you  totally unexpected. However had a fabulously holiday, hotel spotless, all staff so helpful and polite, never felt in any danger going out..except for perhaps taxis where speed limit was optional. All locals we met were friendly and full of smiles.

So sad how it's changed. That said, I was supposed to go to Tunisia as a child in the 80s and our hotel was bombed before we flew out.

Sort of enjoying the debate, mainly the bit about where someone is a target.

Of course the majority of terrorist and conflict victims are local people, who also suffer from the lack of tourist dollars when such events occur.

I know, the terrorists are just too stupid to work out that the people they are damaging most are their own. Makes not a jot of difference to people who choose not to go to these destinations, they have the whole world to choose from, I can honestly say I won't feel like I've missed out if I never go to Egypt or Tunisia again (went twice in the 80's with parents).

It's personal choice, and more importantly personal responsibility. It's the second area I find depressing, having travelled widely fro leisure and also work then people need to assess the status of any destination and decide whether a trip is worthwhile.

It's if ten a relative decision, we were in Syria in 2009, not exactly straightforward but an opprotunity that has now been lost.

I've also politely, and sometimes less politely, stated that I'm not travelling to certain areas for work, Nigeria and DRC being the two obvious examples.
