Other European countries have been OK with visiting Tunisia for some time now.
I'm not sure what countries one could recommend where there have not been personal attacks or stabbings. You would certainly need to avoid the UK.0 -
I was there in September 2014 and would definitely go back0

Actually most of the world, there are not too many places where western tourist were the prime target, Tunisia and Egypt top that list in recent years.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
They weren't tourists, they were residents of Hurghada. Not saying that makes it better, just stating facts. You mean where tourist got stabbed to death two weeks ago? No thanks.
Seven people died in the last London attack, more in Manchester and many in Paris. Do you avoid these places too?:beer:0 -
You appear to be forgetting 9/11Actually most of the world, there are not too many places where western tourist were the prime target, Tunisia and Egypt top that list in recent years.:beer:0 -
Like I said in #2, the beach resorts in Tunisia are prime targets, they're easy to case, and can be attacked from the sea.....difficult to defend against, particularly if there's so much going on around, eg jet ski-ing, para-sailing, everyone is having a good relaxing time.....just like what happened in Sousse.
Security guards might be there, but are they they alert.....pay peanuts, and what do you get?0 -

Couldn't t that be said for a lot of Mediterranean holiday destinations?
Many are an open target for an attack similar to the Sousse one?
Though we can but hope they never suffer the same fate

Yep.....but Tunisia has proved to be a hot-bed for ISIS recruitment. Crap government who promised a lot after getting rid of Ben Ali, but delivered little. Poor people who benefit little from tourism outside of the resorts, few jobs despite being well educated, permanent State of Emergency, practically open lawless border with Libya and Algeria.0 -

I'm not disagreeing with you Pete, but clearly terrorism can happen anywhere; London, Paris, Manchester, to name a recent few....
Major cities as well as crowded holiday resorts are, sadly, 'prime targets' too despite all the high alerts, safety measures and policing etc, in place.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

I'm not disagreeing with you either karcher. But like others earlier in the thread have said, a beach holiday with an ever present twitchy, not very well trained, and poorly paid armed guard on street corners, outside hotel entrances, and at regular intervals along the beach is hardly relaxing.
Like most folk on this forum, we live in UK, and have no choice but to accept what's chucked at us......BUT we do have a choice of where we go to on holiday.....see you in beautiful Croatia in a few weeks.;)0
