Updated FCO Travel Advice...
https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/tunisia
What I don't like is this bit...
Since the terrorist attack in Sousse in June 2015, which targeted tourists, the UK government has been working closely with the Tunisian authorities to investigate the attack and the wider threat from terrorist groups. The Tunisian government has improved protective security in major cities and tourist resorts.
But terrorists are still very likely to try to carry out attacks in Tunisia. Security forces remain on a high state of alert in Tunis and other places. You should be vigilant at all times, including around religious sites and festivals. Follow the advice of the Tunisian security authorities and your travel company if you have one.
The vast majority of holidays makers will go to the same few areas, Hammamet, Sousse and nearby smaller resorts. So any terrorist who wants a big hit on tourism will know exactly where to go, and can take his time to 'case the joint'. As security guards are paid a pittance, then despite any promises of improved security the reality might be different.
Terrorist foot soldiers are expendable, they know where their glorious demise will take them, so why should they care.
The answer to your question is No.0 -
No - not for me...I've never fancied Tunisia, I'd be too worried to be able to relax!0
-
I would definitely pass on it. I feel sorry for ordinary Tunisians, but the borders are not very secure, and there are Daesh/Al Qaeda all over North Africa.0
-
Nope, never in a million years, even if it were for £1. Same goes for Egypt.
I don't go on holiday to spend time in an armed compound, I go to enjoy the country I'm visiting.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
No from me too.
But I am speaking from experience here.... about ten years ago. Never ever again. That was Port al Kantoui.
Hotel was fine, but it was hell outside the hotel grounds. I am a very mature lady and even though I was accompanied I was propositioned. Awful. The shopkeepers harass you to go inside. Leave me alone!
Not a good atmosphere at all IMV. It is all hassle hassle hassle.
I did enjoy El Jem and Carthage though. But it was an organised tour so we were sequestered I guess.
No one could take any pics near the dictator's house. It was all very odd.
I will hold my hands up and say I do not like Muslim countries. Well I didn't until I went there. Egypt and Morocco the same. But at least I tried them before ranting.0 -
I wouldn't but i wouldn't have gone before either, it's just not for me!
I'll stick to Egypt as the hotels are better as is the weather.
And i won't be spending my time in 'an armed compound' either, thats not what it's like in Egypt. I'll be enjoying some meals out at the Hurghada Marina and spending some time out at sea. May even do Cairo this time around.
I'm sure plenty of people will support Tunisia now it's back, it has a lot of regulars that have been itching to go.:beer:0 -

No way, I go on holiday to relax, I couldn't relax in either Tunisia or Egypt. I'd stay clear.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Met a lovely girl in a music bar in the West End twenty years ago, by the name of Silvia . Shortly after I met her, she went on holiday; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/32286.stm0
