    Hi Buffy,

I think you already know the answer to your question...It is a fad diet! So it might work in the short-term, but do you want to spend the rest of your life eating like that? Because as soon as you stop, you'll be back where you started.

I'm not dismissing your list of reasons why you feel this is the solution - I know it seems temptingly straightforward. I just don't think it's a good way to treat your body. If you don't mind me saying, you are ill or not feeling well quite often. No doubt it's for several reasons, not just diet, but I can't help but feel if you improved what you are eating even just a little bit you might feel a bit better overall. Do you walk much? I find it so helpful for my head and my health.

If you want to lose weight my view is you'd be better off doing something like using myfitnesspal to work out a set number of calories for YOU and then changing that to get results.

I hope the last week of the holidays is a good one for you and that your BIL is improving. You have a lot on your plate and I am in awe that you manage to keep it all together! Keep booking holidays and seeing your friends. xx

    Yes, you make good points.

Step AWAY from the SlimFast young lady :naughty: feed your body what it needs.

    Also good points.

You mentioned a goal of 3 fruit and veg a day. Make soup! 2-3 portions of veg in a good bowl of homemade soup so lots of vitamins and filling (and warming, which will be welcome later in the year).

Your body will thank you in the long run, as will your bank account - you can make a LOT of veg soup for the cosy of a tin of SlimFast powder.... Plus you know you will try it, it will taste boggin' and you won't finish the tin...

Also true. But can't heat up soup at work.

I wish someone would invent in a pill you could take and not have to think about what to eat. Ugh.

I shall go back to the drawing board!

Meanwhile today is going to be busy.

shopping, lunch and night out tonight. well evening out.

    hope to be back early!

How about taking soup in a flask?

Sorry to hear your BIL is back in hospital but pleased you've had a good break.

Are there any other easy options? Graze boxes, bought salads? By delivery if that means they are present when needed?

(DoingItAnyway would be a good person to ask about foodie questions... )

Yes, but that means heating the soup and warming the flask before you leave for work. Not ideal for those of us who aren't great with mornings to begin with...

  • Currently sat on sofa with blanket. Night out last night and feeling ok... BIG TRIP today! VERY excited :)

Lucifer and Beanie - wish you guys were coming! XXX

yes I do have a flask. I think. :) In theory that is a good plan, I do make nice veg soup.

I just can't see it happening really. There is zero time at work to eat anything proper. I have a fridge. Lunch is 40 minutes and normally involves photocopying answering e mails and dealing with kids. If I am on duty it is 20 minutes long. And whilst that normally means there is other time in the day "free" it isn't.

Plus as Rosa says, mornings are not my thing, it is very difficult with Mum as the earlier I get up the earlier she gets up and everything annoys me. Before when I would have soup in the end I switched to cuppa soups as she would be in the kitchen and I had limited time etc.

Like I say I really need a pill!

I have a week till I am back to all that tho. Last year I survived on packets of biscuits in my drawer. I don't want to do that again.

Any how I have to pack, clean out the animals, hoover, go shopping and then start my epic journey, I had no idea how far away Telford is!!

Then Google Huel! My partner has it for lunch quite often. I'm not a fan as to me it doesn't feel like real food, but he has Crohn's disease which means he does better on things that don't require too much digestion. Psychologically I struggle with 'replacement' shakes, but I think Huel or similar is nutritionally better for you than slimfast shakes.

If you're an online forum type of person I found the 'loseit' subreddit on reddit incredibly useful. Most people posting there are American, but bodies work the same all over the world! They are big on CICO (calories in, calories out) - which might work for you. I think it would because you need to find a way to save calories where you can to enable you to not disrupt your evening meals with your mum.

Have a great time in Telford! xx

Make a batch of pasta/rice/couscous up for salads and portion up a few days worth on a Sunday night, nice and easy (gluten free pasta is widely available). Alternatively what about cereal, dairy free milk if required and a quick bowl of that doesn't take long to eat, add a bit of fruit and you're away.

I do a tin of mixed beans with a tin of sweet corn, pop in some chopped onion, tomatoes and grated carrot and then it gets added to whatever carb we fancy and a simple oil and mustard vinegar dressing added for yumminess. Takes less than 10 mins to prep and keeps well for 3/4 days in the fridge.

There's no excuse for only eating biscuits Madame!!!!
