I like the questions which ask "will it fit in my car?" when I have included measurements. Depends what size car you have!!

    Or

Length of skirt = 20". Question "Would you say this would come above the knee?" - depends on how tall you are, lovey!!

Some people just don't want to get off their chair and check - or think I am a mind reader!!

  • I sold a fireplace on Ebay and the buyer from the Midlands asked whether he could drive up and collect and pay cash.I gave him directions, he got lost a few times and rang my mobile but eventually rang and said he was 5 mins away having just turned off the motorway.I stood at my front door to watch out for him but after 15 mins no sign. When I heard an ambulance I became concerned so rang his mobile and found out whilst he was waiting to turn right into our street a 4x4 had driven into his rear end and smashed his car through a fence into the front garden of a house round the corner from me.I immediately went round there to see him being put onto a stretcher and then into the ambulance. As he was a long way from home and not knowing anyone in the area apart from me I offered to collect him from hospital when he was discharged which was later that day.He came back to my house and waited for a couple of hours until his partner drove up to collect him.He was a really nice chap and I was glad to have met him.Obviously not a funny incident but a bit out of the ordinary!!By the way he came back the following day in a courtesy car and collected the fireplace!! I'm still waiting to hear whether he received any compo'!!

I've also had the 'will it fit me' questions on clothes. One lady asked me just that and I replied with the measurements as already stated in the auction and she came back to me telling me that she had been to weightwatchers and lost a lot of weight so she still wasnt sure and what did I think, I started to get her entire life history after that, almost daily emails about getting to 24 stone and being bullied at uni and having to move back with her mum as she couldn't get a job as she couldn't do much without getting wheezy..in the end she emailed so many times she forgot to bid and thank heavens someone else bought it instead.

I've also had another loopy one win an item (clothes again..which is why I prefer not to sell them too often) and she wanted a full refund as it didn't fit. She mentioned it being several inches too small round the waist. I emailed back and said that as per the auction the waist was 32 inches and she came back to say that was about 8 inches smaller than her waist. I thought I was rather patient as I emailed again and asked her why she bid on a size 14 with a 32 inch waist if she was actually several sizes larger, and she said it was because she assumed my auction was wrong as she was definitely a size 14 with a 40 inch waist as her mother told her she was a slim 14 and so when would she get her refund?

Oh yes, and when I was selling mainly sci fi stuff a chap started emailing me a lot and saying how great it was for a woman to like sci fi, and would I be his girlfriend please

I remember another one - but more cringe-worthy at the time - I sold a child's plastic climbing frame and a man came about 40 miles to pick it up in his brother's car. He spotted a playhouse too that I hadn't yet listed and decided he wanted that too if he could fit it in.

He spent 40 minutes cramming both in - I still don't know how he did it, but the last door wouldn't shut. So he slammed it as hard as he could and the window smashed in the street!! He just shrugged - handed over the money and drove off. he probably still has 30 miles to go when the heavens opened and he would have been on the motorway with no window!!

  • I once sold the most hideous top to someone in Vegas...funny thing was, it was a bloke's addy that bought it! So if you're ever in Vegas look out for a guy wearing a size 14 luminous pink top with netting on the top!
