Good to have you back PP. I hope your dad's transition to the home goes as smoothly as it can. Such a difficult decision but there's only so much you can do caring for a loved one with dementia at home, such a cruel disease.

Re: holiday weight gain. I bet that's not all fat. It will be a lot of water retention, keep your water up and most of that 4lb will come back off.

Sounds good, PP - I'm not surprised you didn't get much done with needing to spend the time with your dad. I'm glad to hear how close the nursing home is.

One thing my mum did, in relation to my dad being in a home - she got good prints of a lot of different photos, maybe a dozen, showing him throughout his life - emphasizing that he was loved, he was important, he had a life that he enjoyed. I don't think she *needed* to do it, it was a really good place, but it can't have harmed, and it made a talking point for my dad too.

Will the missing flapjacks take their place today? :):):)

    Evening

Thanks Wish, I'm sleeping so much better at the moment - long may it last :D

Thanks for the info Cath - fear it might be beer rather than water:rotfl:

Thanks for the suggestion Karma, that is such a lovely idea.

This week end hasn't been as productive as I would have liked largely down to hospital shifts and the associated travel. However, I'm going to list my very small steps to success to remind myself that it's a marathon not a sprint:p

A ns weekend apart from filling up the car with fuel

All drinks, meals and snacks taken to the hospital so no unnecessary spends

Walked to hospital to get free parking despite the weather which saves £8 a day

Went for a run on Saturday and today - nice to be running in cooler climes, I even enjoyed the rain and the mud:rotfl:
    Lunches made for tomorrow

Cheap healthy eats (fruit and cereal for breakfasts ,lo for lunch and dinner was peach and chickpea curry on Sat and hm veggie burgers and salad tonight)

Laundry dried on the airers - I will not give in to this weather and use the tumble dryer!

    Hoovered downstairs

    Helped ds with some admin

    Went to visit mum

    Relisted 24 eBay items

Glued the sole back on my shoe

    Happy Sunday to you:)

As always, I remain in awe of how much you achieve, far more than me and I'm not working!!!

I hope the move for dad goes well, great that you have somewhere local that you can all get to easily. I hope he settles well and it will remove some of the worry from you all.

When is the first anniversary of mortgage and is 80k doable? I found 5p yesterday if that would help :p.

A little telling off though - please don't buy sunglasses from pound shops - your eye health is too important :naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

    Hiya Gally

Thanks for your good wishes, it was a tough decision but the right one. We can't do any of the basics safely anymore:(

OP anniversary date is 31st August and I'm honestly not sure if I'm going to be sub £80k as I've not tracked things this month as a result of all the chaos. My spends all look ok except fuel which is  due to hospital visits but I've had my house insurance and some landlord's insurance this month so it's tight - hang on to that 5p as I may need to take you up on your generous offer:rotfl:

Would it help if I confessed to sitting on said glasses and breaking them quite efficiently? I'm now back to my aged Foster Grants (that I got for £1.49 in £,stretcher:o!!)

    Evening:wave:

Today has been a bit of a b***er:eek: Dad not so good so his transfer that has taken an age to coordinate may not happen, my tenants have given notice, the toilet seat broke and I got bloody drenched walking from my free parking to the hospital. Other than that it's been lovely :p

    Today's small steps to well being, freedom and choice were;

    Did a spin class

    Drank enough water

    Slept reasonably well

Had a lovely, light-hearted chat with my boy who on occasions drives me up the wall with his teenagerness but who is a sensitive and considerate soul with a truly good heart and today that shone through. He loves his family :A

Made flapjack - at last :o

Meatballs marinating for tomorrow, tomato and basil sauce is in the sc overnight for a quick, easy dinner tomorrow. Overnight oats are done and in the fridge as they are an ideal grab and go breakfast for the hospital.

No parking costs - just very bad downpour hair  Also took breakfast, snacks and coffee so no food costs.

Two loads of laundry done and on the airer. Last load was dry at long last so folded and away.

    Picked some blackberries

    Lunches ready for tomorrow

Cheap healthy eats (overnight oats for breakfast, hm falafel, hummus and ys pitta for lunch and barginous Aldi steak, mushrooms, onions and salad for dinner)

    A nsd :j

Lovely photos and videos from DD who is having a ball :)

    Happy Monday to you :)

  • Even your rubbish days you put me to shame PP !!

Hope your Dad improves enough for transfer. Aren't these new tenants you have ?

Your son is same age as my youngest if I am right in thinking he has just done his GCSES. He is pretty good really and has a great sense of humour but we have had our struggles the past few years.
My eldest is going to uni in a few weeks so trying to get everything he needs organised and make sure he has his finances in place and that he knows how to run a bank account as he hasnt had one before!! It's going to be a big learning curve for him but I have faith he will be ok.

Hope Tues is better day for you x

Hiya DDA , lovely to 'see' you :).

My dad is better so all set for our transfer :)

We are waiting for GCSE results  Hope we are both breathing a sign of relief on Thursday. Shall we send each other good vibes?:)

Off to uni is so exciting:D. It's also a bit of a wrench:( it's what we've been preparing them for so give yourself a pat on the back for getting them to that point:T

    Evening

No mishaps today:D. Toilet seat still broken but I've got the part, rental is advertised, dad's transfer is sorted and it didn't rain:rotfl:

In money matters I've got £5.25 of account rewards and £2.43 tcb on the way to my current account and apart from fuel I've had a nsd:D

    Other small steps to success included;

    A trail run and a spin class:eek: I'll sleep tonight:D

    Drank enough water

Cheap healthy eats (overnight oats for breakfast, hm veg pasties for lunch and hm meatballs, tomato and basil sauce and spaghetti for dinner)

    Lunches ready for tomorrow

Took breakfast, coffee and snacks to the hospital so no unnecessary spends

Found a free parking spot and had a brisk, dry walk to the hospital:D

Showered at the gym so a bit of water and gas saved:D

Caught up on some work reading and understood most of it:p

    Picked more blackberries

    Phoned mum

Got an update in pics of dd's adventure :)

Taxied DS around to sports practice

Off to bed to read for a bit before having an early night - bliss:)

    Happy Tuesday to you :)
