Pinky, so sorry to hear about your dad. My dad had vascular dementia, and it's just awful. You're very strong to get back and then use your time so productively, kudos to you.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hello
We've had biblical rain all day:eek: much needed but it's meant been confined to barracks:p. I've on nights with Dad today so I've tried to balance the day with some well being and some chores (not doing the chores does not help my well being:rotfl: just need to accept that!)
Today's small steps to long term happiness have been;
Coffee and a catch up of the diaries in bed
30 minutes weights and core - not going running it that weather:eek:
A shower and taking the time to use body butter - a little pampering goes a long way:)
Had an omelette for breakfast rather than cereal:)
Swallowed two frogs, one of which was enormous - phone calls
Cleaned the kitchen and decobwebbed the living room
Did a backlog of filing and cleared out expired paperwork and set light to it in the woodburner
Booked a spin class and yoga to fit around dad's care tomorrow. Can't really be bothered but I know I'll feel better if I do!
Lo for lunch and taking dinner and snacks to the hospital with me
Meal planned for next week as I'm picking up the bulk of dad's care as I'm off work.
Before I leave for the hospital I'd like to clean the living room and watch a bit of tv:)
Happy Sunday to you:)

Evening:wave:
Very little money news (again) for a mfw diary:o. Mortgage totals on Wednesday though:D
I've been at the hospital for most of the day but got back late afternoon so a did get a few things done. I slept so much better last night so I've felt like I've had nearly normal energy levels. My lovely dad is getting a little bit stronger every day. He's one tough old lad, everyone including the staff thought he was on his way last week. So good to see him looking a bit brighter
Today my small steps to happiness and freedom included:
Early morning spin class which after a lightening shower still allowed me to get to dad in time for breakfast. Couldn't really be bothered but so glad I did - I've felt great all day
Took breakfast, lunch, coffee and snacks to the hospital. I've also found free parking which is only about a 10 min walk:j
Batch cooked veggie mince turned into cottage pie using up some lo mash with frozen green beans for dinner which was yummy and super quick. Have been so glad of my batch cooked meals this week
Laundry in the wm ready for line drying tomorrow as the forecast is dry.
Cleaned the upstairs windows (did the downstairs yesterday). They look lovely - can't remember the last time I did them
Cleaned the hall, stairs, landing and utility room properly.
Cleaned the front door and swept the path
Drank enough water
Did evening yoga class - not my usual thing but feel very relaxed after a tense few days - hoping for a good night's sleep
Got my free shopmium Oreo thins and submitted claim
Nearly a nsd - just needed milk.
Two eBay sales, only tiny but every little helps
Arranged to have the house valued as I weigh up future plans as I've no real idea what it's worth.
I've got a day off staying with Dad tomorrow (we've done a Rota so each sister gets a complete day off to recharge) so I'm hoping to do a couple of exercise classes and to get out in the garden to do a bit of tidying up.
Happy Monday to you

There are all sorts of ways we work on being mortgage-free
and among them are taking care of our health
both exercising and cleanliness - you go girl! The rota sounds very good news, between you and your sisters.
Hope you sleep well tonight too.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Thanks Karma, you're always so kind:A
I realised a long time ago that a chaotic house and no exercise does not a happy piggy make :rotfl: You're spot on that a sense of well being is key if you are to stay the distance as the road to freedom is not a short one:p. I've found ( and have read diaries where others seem to feel the same) that as I got my finances under control it felt so liberating that I wanted to extend it to other areas of my life.
A clean organised house, a healthy diet and a degree of physical fitness results in me being the best version of myself. I really must remember that the next time i can't be a***d to clean up or go for a run:rotfl:

Evening
I've had a full day at home and it's been lovely:D. Dad is slowly improving which is such a relief and it meant I could have a nice, relaxed day without worrying about him.
I had a good night's sleep and although I woke early I felt really well rested. I had coffee in bed and read for an hour and then drafted a wish list rather than a to do list because at the moment I'm trying to get things done but without putting ridiculous amounts of pressure on myself. It seems to be working as I'm getting a fair amount done but without feeling outfaced or tired:)
I've no real money news apart from my Shopmium payment is on its way which was super quick and I had a no spend day apart from the postage costs of two eBay parcels.
Small steps to success included;
Cheap, healthy and very easy eats (overnight oats for breakfast, lo veggie cottage pie for lunch and batch cooked chicken in creamy garlic sauce from the freezer with rice for dinner)
Enough lo for lunch tomorrow
Packed and posted two eBay parcels and answered some questions on another item
Productive heart to heart with DD about some issues she's experiencing at work. She's showing a level of maturity and self awareness that makes me very proud of her
Tidied up the attic room I have as an office and packed away my gift stash that was all over the day bed and had been for months
Sewed up a hope in one of the living room cushions
Laundry line dried and put away
Three hours pruning, raking, sweeping and tidying in the garden. The green bin is full ready for this week's collection and everywhere looks much tidier. It still needs digging over in parts but it's much better than It was.
Went to kettle bells and Pilates this morning and spin this evening so I should sleep tonight:rotfl:
Drank enough water
Watched some tv with dd which we haven't done for ages :A
Off to bed as I'm trying to get into a better routine (again:o).
Happy Tuesday to you

Morning
Happy first of the month:D. Is it anyone else's very favourite day that they always get a bit excited about or do I need to get out more?:rotfl:
Was up with the larks but slept well so thought I'd make good use of the time:p. I've fed the dog and let him out for a quick toilet stop, made coffee, read my emails and come back to bed to read my book. Before I settle down to that I have actual money news for the first time in what feels like forever! Mortgage totals :j
As I confessed I was over on my grocery spend but under on personal spends so that sort of cancelled out. I also had a £148 car repair and £225 for a new washing machine, connecting it and taking the old one away. I'm also owed around £50 of work expenses which I have submitted but I won't get them back until September.
So...
Pension AVC £880/£880 this is net so another £1,100 in the pension pot:j
Mortgage offset savings £772.92/£430 :j
Off set benefit £100.10. This is such a nice bonus. £100 OP and rising each month just for leaving my os savings where they are:)
Mortgage Neutral Balance £81,747.21
Capital Reduction £1,662.40/£1,250:j:j
My stretch goal of a mortgage neutral balance of sub £80k by my first mortgage payment anniversary is looking within my grasp
However I do have a holiday booked so need some spends, my house insurance renewal is £126 and my landlord's insurance renewal is going to be around £160 unless I can find it cheaper.
On the plus side I have things to ebay, a well stocked freezer and no commuting costs (although the hospital is a 30 mile round trip) so I'm going to give it my best shot:)
I'm going to think about some little wins for my holiday that will take minimum effort and that will not compromise our enjoyment. Things are looking good so far as the flights, parking accommodation were sorted out well in advance and at a good price. As it's a very early flight I booked a hotel near the airport which was a real bargain on Booking.com £23 :money: The other option was leaving home at 3.30 am which would have meant starting the holiday completely jiggered which would have been a bit self defeating.
To make the most of it we are travelling up the day before and having a wander round the city and hopefully a museum:). I'm going to take lunch, dinner, coffee and snacks with us which will get me off to a thrifty start. I'll make sure it's a step up from a standard picnic so it feels like a treat:). Early departure means no breakfast so I thought I'd make healthy granola bars to have with a banana and take from home coffee at the airport. I'm also going to sort out healthy snacks for the plane and will fill water bottles once through security. Every little helps:)
Happy Hump Day to you
