    Evening

So much for a fine day it's been on and off downpours:eek:
No gardening done as it was so wet and laundry and a bed change got done but is waiting to go on line tomorrow when it promises to be dry - we'll see:p

    Adapted plans led to stuff getting done, just not the stuff I'd planned. Mfw successes included;

Gave my weary legs a rest day :p

    Drank enough water

Had a lie in until 7, got DS up, breakfasted and out of the door and then took a coffee back to bed and read until 8.30 :)

Had veggie moussaka base in the sc overnight so I chargrilled an aubergine and made white sauce and assembled them. Used a bag of lentils, two onions, two tins of toms and store cupboard spices and got 4 moussakas in the freezer for when I return to work. I've got a tub of base left over so I thought I'd add a tin of chickpeas to it and make some calzone type pasties to see if I can break my pastry addiction:eek:

Batch cooking veggie bol sauce in sc overnight. Will freeze half in family size portions to have with spaghetti and will turn the other half into a couple of lasagnes using the lo white sauce from the moussaka.

Made white choc Pavlova for DS's celebration dinner . I used frozen egg whites which were lo from making custard which I've never done before and it worked perfectly so I won't ever be wasting egg white again, I'll be freezing them. Thank you Nigella :A

Cleaned the kid's bathroom:eek: in theory it gets done every week... It looks lovely now though - especially the new 75p loo brush :money:

    Changed DS's bed

Pressed and photographed some eBay items ready to list over the weekend

Went to HB and stocked up on easy garlic and ginger, 4 tins of toms and tom puree to finish my batch cooking, hair colour, four packs of foil trays, 2 x red and green lentils . Spent just over £10.

Went to Poundland for laundry liquid

£1.95 spent in The Card Factory but got 5 really nice 'event' cards.

Paid a cheque into DS's savings - he seems to be getting the message:)

    Hoovered upstairs and down.

    Sorted out the recycling

    Visited mum

Had some lovely photos of DD's adventure to look at

Bathed, brushed and clipped the dog. I don't know what a groomer costs but that's a few quid saved. My clearance bin dog grooming out from Aldi has been a very good investment as he needs doing about every 6-8 weeks.

    Updated my spends spreadsheets

I'm off to bed as I'm on morning hospital duty so I need to up and at em!

    Happy Friday :j:j

Evening  What a beautiful day:). What is it about a bit of blue sky and sunshine that you suddenly feel energised? Not sure about the science it will gladly take the results!

In money news I may have a tenant meaning the house will only be rentless for a week :j:j. Also got the bill for some maintenance £302 :eek: This is going to mean no MOP in September but at least the money is there. One step forward two steps back :p

    I had a morning at the hospital and the spent most of the afternoon watching DS and the team getting a bit of a hammering:( It was nice to sit in the sunshine though. I got home a t 5.30 but it was such a nice night I actually felt like doing something so there were some mfw successes:D. These included;

Went for a run and did 15 mins weights

    Drank enough water

Took breakfast, coffee and snacks to the hospital so no unnecessary spends. Found a free parking spot a short walk away.

Took a bag of work admin and got it done while dad was snoozing and watching tv.

Swallowed a frog - form filled in

Cheap healthy eats (overnight oats for breakfast, lo for lunch and veggie bol sauce and lo cous cous from the freezer for dinner

Put a batch of three bean chilli in sc overnight .

Used veggie bol sauce done overnight to make 6 2 person lasagne for the freezer and froze 2 lots of sauce to have with spaghetti.

Bread maker is on a timer so calzone dough will be ready in the morning.

Got my wet laundry mountain line dried :j. Folded it and put it away

Did some cutting back in the garden. It still needs a good weed but it looks better and all the rain battered plants have been dealt with and you can use the paths again

Went to the £ Cs and got a New Look skirt and a bag for DD, a H&m jumper, a M&S T-shirt, a gorgeous Morgan halter neck evening dress and a New Look sleeveless top and some raspberry leather Nine West sandals for me :o:o and a French Connection dress to eBay . £8 spent which has taken me over my personal spends budget but all total bargains :):)

Tomorrow I want to finish the last of my batch cooking, visit my dad and do some sort of excercise.

    Happy Saturday to you :)

    Morning Pinky
Just catching up and really pleased to hear DS has done so well in his exams.

I am always so impressed with your CS bargains. I have never had much luck with CS's. I went for a look around ours last week when I dropped off a few bags from a clear out, but tbh it was really expensive.....£3.95 for a top that had clearly had a life. I find I do better on eb@y and also on the clearance rails at our local outlet mall. I wish we had we had a £ CS.

You have inspired me to get some batch cooking done this weekend, it is so handy when work gets busy.

:T Well done on the batch cooking PP! :T

Love having a nose at your ta-da lists as they are soooo inspiring!

I'm on staycation this week so plan some clearouts of various nooks & crannies of our house as well as an eat from the stores strategy which will see us having hm soups for lunches! Also aim for a load of laundry a day, ironing & putting away everything as we go along...

Not too ambitious but doable:D:D:D (One day my tada lists will look like yours:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - not sure when - but one day - lol)
    4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)

    ...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)

    Hiya Busy

Thank you, I'm so chuffed for him - he was really worried that he wouldn't get what he needed :)
I agree about Cs - some are just ludicrous. I never go in a few of my local ones as they are so expensive:eek: We have a great warehouse on the outskirts of town which is huge but if you don't mind having a rummage its great. All clothes are £2 and the furniture, kitchen stuff, electrical and books are really reasonable. If you have a big basket of stuff the often just say 'we'll call it' whatever which is even better:D. My latest find is in the town where dad is in hospital. It's a Cs where everything is a pound and every time I've popped in they've had some great stuff. Do you have any warehouses near by?

Batch cooking is a lifesaver for me, especially during the working week. Since Dad's been in hospital it's saved me so much time and money as it's been a case of pull something out to defrost and then make pasta, rice etc once I get in.
This last lot hasn't felt overly onerous as I've got into the habit of shoving something in the sc overnight and then assembling it into something or portioning it up in the morning. Good luck with yours and let's us know what you make - new ideas are always good as there's only so much chilli you can eat :rotfl:

    Evening

It's been a grey, drizzly day here today, it feels like it's never got light:( Despite that it's been a lovely day. As I was on afternoon hospital shift I had a morning at home which felt like such a treat:D. I didn't set the alarm and slept until almost eight which was bliss as I always tend to wake early even when i don't have to. As it was chucking it down I opted for coffee and reading in bed rather than a run:p. I just love doing that, it's such a relaxing start to the day:)

    Today's small steps to freedom and wellbeing included;

    Had a great sleep

20 mins shred and 15 mins weights

    Drank enough water

Took coffee and snacks to the hospital so no unnecessary spends. Also found a free parking spot a short walk away.

Portioned up the three bean chilli that was in the sc last night.

Used the bm pizza dough to make calzone for work lunches. I got 6 out of the lo moussaka base and another 6 using some of the three bean chilli.

Batch cooked spinach and chickpea Thai curry in the sc and portioned it up.

Emptied the kitchen freezer, wiped it out and refilled it so I can find things easily and fit everything in and did an inventory that I can use to meal plan :). A horrible job but so satisfying once it's done!

Cheap healthy eats (overnight oats for breakfast, lo for lunch, spinach and chickpea Thai curry with rice and quinoa for dinner)

Made hummus and overnight oats for healthy, easy to grab snacks.

Did a load of laundry and put it on the airer

    Spent the afternoon with Dad

Had some eBay sales and listed my Cs finds from yesterday

    Happy Sunday to you :):)

  • Pinky,

What do you 'do' for overnight oats? And what do you do 'overnight' and what gets added just before eating? I'm trying to vary mine which are currently oats soaked in milk overnight with fresh fruit and ypughurt added at breakfast time.
(I can't have any form of nuts and some seeds are dodgy too, so I tend to avoid them as well)

    Thanks
    Wish.

Oooh what's your recipe for the Thai spinach and chickpea curry please PP? Sounds like a good one and being done in the slow cooker is a winner for me!

I’ve just made and inventory if our two freezers and it is so satisfying! Some stuff just got buried for too long and was past it’s best which is so annoying and wasteful , hoping I can keep up to date now and also makes shopping lists so much quicker. Love reading your diary!
