I wore a pair of shoes to work yesterday, and had the feeling they were constantly slipping from my feet. Nice blue suede flats, but I was gripping with my toes all the time and walking like a duck. They are now in the attic for donation.

  • Well, I've just done the filing - put it off for ages but it really doesn't take long with my ring-binder system. Unfortunately I've accidentally Kondoed the hole-punch by trying to use it to make holes in felt (don't ask) so I can't quite finish the job. Then I was suddenly inspired to get all my t-shirts out and go through them, and was able to release two that I never wear. That took about 5 minutes, no longer; it's almost like scratching an itch, every so often I feel the need to lighten my belongings by a few more items.

I have also Kondoed a parking fine which has been niggling, I'll spare you the details but I felt it was unjust, I appealed to the organisation and was declined, no surprise, and was going to appeal to OPLA. I looked at the website and thought about the time it would take and decided I'd rather just suck it up and pay the fine than go through the appeal and risk being turned down and then pay the full fine. It hurt to pay, but once it was done the relief was amazing, I hadn't realised how much it's been bugging me! I've moved on.
Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.

2 beautiful and very loved jackets (which are way too small for me now and too formal for my current life as a country bumpkin) went to a friend today. If they fit her, they will continue to look fab and if they don't, she'll drop them at a dress agency she uses and I won't have to! Win win! ;)

Trying to catch up as have been away sorting out the 'new to us' house we are planning on renting out until we can move there to retire.

When we got there, not so much as a card, bottle of wine or a bog-roll left by the vendor, which considering we paid way over asking didn't impress us much. We worked incredibly hard for 2 weeks, more than 12 hour days, filled a skip, had lots of problems, some of which are yet to be sorted, used over 40 litres of paint, visited B&Q every 3 days, existed on ready meals (confirmed you can't out-exercise a bad diet, too many carbs I put on 3lbs).

Got to go back in a couple of weeks and finish off. Final straw was rupturing a water pipe which means another large bill from the plumbers and having to repaint a ceiling when it dries out.

If you recall there was mention of a snake in the compost bin. It had slithered off by the time I looked. We re-homed the bin and most of the compost with a neighbour who was grateful for it.

Have worked 23 days on the trot, either decorating or my own work, may or may not get a day off at the weekend (we're thinking of dashing down on Sunday to repaint the ceiling, 4 hour round trip), but next week I'm meeting a friend on Friday who is visiting from abroad, which means I'll be cramming in 5 days work to 4 days.

It's going to be a tough few weeks ahead, not Kondoing anything much except money. OH intends to bin his old trainers when the decorating is finished. I've been wearing an old pair of slippers, one of which has been repaired wrapping it in parcel tape. I binned a pair before leaving home but they were still in the bin when I got back, I've fished them out to take with me next time as they are pristine by comparison with the pair in the other house!

    Kondo conversation with myself:
Me1: time to wear out this T-shirt
    Me2: why?
Me1: it's a nice colour, and I cannot wear it to work, so I'll wear it at home.
Me2: why can't you wear it to work?
Me1: because it's an awful shape and makes me look butch, and I don't like these high round T-shirt collars.
    Me2: .......
Me1: you're right, I'll give it to someone else.

  • I found some paperwork in a drawer and some old lists that I don't need so that was put into the recycling bin.

I decided to switch over to mostly organic fruit and veg so I want to use up the veg in the fridge. I will probably make a huge vat of soup today.:D

After the Grenfell tower fire I am concerned that I have a Hotpoint fridge freezer so I will probably replace that with a new one. We need to eat down all the frozen food over the next week or two.
