  • Aches are gone and I am back in a nice regular sleep pattern. Whizzy active head is also gone to be replaced with calm. More me time now ie doing stuff I like, cycle is near the garage door, so out first on a cycle ride for health and fitness , a big space in my garage now, loving it after kondo and have set up ready to do a little bit of carving. This one is special, was 1/3 finished by my husband, I am taking my time, very slowly, more like gentle whittling and not a mallet in sight. I sharpened my tools yesterday as my sharpening station is now handy. Such a long time since I did anything on it that I forgot how to do stuff, could not reach it properly. I had to re-learn yesterday. Kondo has enabled me, again

I wonder if it is actually possible to do the MK process in one go?

I thought I'd done it pretty thoroughly, bar the 2 items you lovely people helped me with last week.

But now, inspired again by this thread and listening to her audiobook when I go to bed, I am suddenly thinking of areas that I can further reduce.

Every day, another carrier bag or 2 goes to recycling.

I THINK I did it "right" the first time, but maybe I'm a slightly different person having done it and so need to now do the amount that this "new" me needs? Pointless musing, but it's kept me quiet for ages! :rotfl:

    Have a great day everyone.

I realised yesterday that in all the KMing I completely ignored a lovely big mac, which I bought (from a charity shop, for £6). It falls to mid-calf, it's belted, it's substantial. And I've never, ever worn it. I wear my skinny M&S mid-thigh little mac. The big one has sat in the wardrobe so long the shoulders are absolutely *covered in dust :o:o:o I was just "blind" to this thing.
    Have a great day everyone.

Siebrie, well done! You are right. No good wearing it if it doesn't feel good!

Small but useful kondo-ing has taken place -

weeded out my latest receipts (they live in a pretty mug for a few weeks then are filed away or shredded as appropriate) and found one I thought had already been binned. I realised that a discount had not been granted so I emailed the firm in question, attaching the receipt and they have emailed me a voucher to make up :)

took the 4 jumpers/fleeces to CS this morning :)

*not really kondo-ing* - Delivered the badger to the client, who is chuffed with it :D

while in the CS I saw a veerrryyyy cute cuddly toy, so I bought it for my little niece. It therefore has
a temporary home with me until Xmas!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
  • Finally, finally... there's been a sort of flotsam of bags, craft bits, charity-shop things and odds and ends washing around my bedroom where it ended up when I tidied the other room for visitors. I was determined not to let it drift slowly back into the rest of the house which is what usually happens. Today I made a real effort and managed to clear the last bits. It's SO lovely to see clear tops to the C-O-D and dressing table, it makes me feel so happy.

Just delivered 3 large cardboard boxes of sold-on-t'bay items to the local drop off point :j Just a whole heap more to list now.... should get on with it as it includes boxed toys - which would be great for Xmas... (plus would empty a massive decorative storage box in the family room - although I'm not sure what I would then use it for - perhaps it can be my ongoing pending fleabay storage.... :p:D
    :A
Have a stuffed-full-to-the-brim bag on my bench waiting for the local shoebox person to collect and a small bag of bits for the CS (not worth dropping off yet) Also have a stuffed full bag in the kitchen for DS3 to take to school next week for Harvest Festival - foodbank donations.

Am tackling the build up of hotel shampoos and conditioners next - have just finished my large bottles and before I start the next ones I plan to use the hotel freebies up - suspect they'll last me at least the month (which is good, as I want to use them for our holiday in late Oct anyway)

I've actually managed to whittle away my stash of smellies very successfully this year - have been using up all my lovely ones previously saved 'for best' (why??)- so much so that I actually need some for Xmas (as opposed to just asking for them because I know they'll get used at some point and they are preferable to a vase/ ornament/ unjoyful piece of clothing) which is great - as I know I'll get some lovely ones which I probably wouldn't buy for myself :D It also means that I have room appearing in the chest of drawers in my bathroom and so can now fit some spare loo rolls in there. My aim is to fit a whole large pack plus of spare loo rolls in there - not yet there, but I couldn't fit any in at the start of this year and can now fit around 10 in - so progress has been made:j (spare loo roll stock is definitely joyful - 6 of us, 4 loos - can disappear quite suddenly at times!)

There is no other way to express how I feel since I finished kondo. I have my work (house and mmaintenance) and life back in balance. It was doing the garage the other day that did it, that big space in the middle which kind of symbolised the opening of myself to the future. My floor in there has those fanastic costco grey spongy tiles and it is so nice and enticing in there now. I no longer dread unlocking that door

So my future continues and on a good healthy footing, I have done my 6 miles on my cycle this morning, knocked 10 minutes off my time and am cooling down from that, tbh from sweating cobs after all the intensive hilly bits. My heart feels so strong these days, aim now is to lose at least some of the extra weight that I carry. I saw that third being younger programme last night and think I found the key, for me, the bursts of intensive exercise. I can get that on my bike, the lanes are empty and it is safe. If you haven`t watched the three programmes them I heartily recommend them. Seeing how we all have hope for going into a healthier future

Shower now, then getting stacks of washing out and later the challenge of carving a mr andy capp type figure. Back of the cap today and starting the hair, small zen bits at a time

ok universe, I am ready, got myself sorted, please send a house or bungalow to me, my future home :)
  • I threw away a lip balm that I broke, I think I will stick with the lip balms in a tin as I keep breaking the lipstick shaped ones! I threw away a lipstick as well yesterday as I put it on and it looks horrible on me and I thought why am I keeping this?:D

I'm about to kondo the end of a book on anti-cancer diet and health tips from my kindle while listening to some relaxing music in the background and burning a scented candle.:A

Oh yes, I think it was you who told me about that programme and I recorded it last night, I haven't watched it yet.:)

Hi, just a quick reminder about lightly used toiletries and make-up that you do not want.
"Give and Make Up" is a project that collects toiletries, make up and clothes for women's refuges. An eyeshadow the wrong colour or a body lotion with the wrong scent, they can all be sent here:
    https://www.escentual.com/help-and-advice/about/give-and-makeup/

More details about the project and what they take here:

I get various charity donation bags through the door but very few of them will accept books. One just arrived two days ago that will take books so that has been filled up and was collected this morning. :j

A new laundry basket that will not shed wicker like the old one has just arrived ( it looks like wicker but is plastic) and might use the old one to hold toilet rolls in the integral garage.

I just gave away some toiletries but will remember the site for the future. Thanks for the link.
