Oh the memories of maternity tights that initially come up to ones armpits, and finally only reach half way up ones bump!

It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Good evening. I have been missing in action helping mum kondo before she moves house.
We have done areas rather than categories, mainly because we needed to reduce the level of stuff to one where we can actually start thinking about collating categories.

So far we have taken 10 full car loads to the charity shop, 9 to the tip...both electrical recycling and things that had died in storage and had been repurposed by mice and couldn't be made good. It has been unrelenting and sometimes it doesn't feel like we have made a difference! We have 4 days before she moves now, I haven't managed to start the sheds yet, but rather than stress her, I have arranged a storage unit, as the process is very emotional. Mum suffers from mental health issues, but I can see the weight of stuff lifting from her shoulders slowly but surely, and although she is physically tired she is helping by saying yes and no to keeping things and she has definitely found it helpful.

I have gained her permission to bring a box a week back from the store so that she can sort through it. I have learnt from this process and I am trying to make small kondo wins at my own home (I move in 3 weeks time!)
£400,000 starting Jan 2020 current end date Aug 2041 I would love the end date to be 2027 but will aim first for 2037.
    1% target £4000 so far £20 paid

My tabletop Halogen oven has 3 people wanting it on Freegle, it should be gone tomorrow evening, a potato ricer is in the CS bag ready for Friday, with a couple of items of clothing and some more toiletries, hopefully will have time to look out more tomorrow.

OH, bless him, has Kondoed all the spiders and their webs out of my garage/utility storage cupboards, we have consolidated the bird food, although need to start buying more ready for autumn feeding to commence. Everything looks so neat and tidy:D:D

Picked about 4kg of damsons this afternoon from a tree on the riverbank/roadside, no one else seems to have taken any, still more left, this will result in empty jam jars in store becoming full ones:D

Consolidating is a good word! That's what I'm doing right now, storing like with like constantly - I've just managed to have my fave builder round for a quote, and though there isn't much work inside the house to be done, there's going to be a lot of rearranging, because of sound insulation on the party wall. Got to get good at this!

I've only had one bout of picking blackberries, but there is a wild plum tree (damson tree?) near me - I might give myself a break and go see it :)

  • Oh dear floss and Maryb :rotfl:
I admit they are a little large but I will grow into them! :p

I have kondoed a few religious cardigans out of the wardrobe to balance the books so to speak with the new purchases.

What are people's views on what to do with theatre/event programmes? They are my OH's so I know I have to keep my hands off but he has bought one at every single theatre trip/Airshow etc we have been to together and there is a LOT...they don't take up a tonne of room but he never looks at them and just moves them from olace to place. I know they are sentimental to him but I'm trying to think of a way of explaining that we may not need to keep them...

My OH used to subscribe to a car magazine. There were a tonne of them abandoned at his mother's house from the 1970s/80s. Occasionally she used to ask what he wanted to do with them, he kept saying keep them, I kept saying bin them, they're not coming here...... This conversation happened a number of times across the years. We had a stack of them here also, more recent copies. I pointed out occasionally that he struggled to keep up with new ones coming through the door, never mind looking back at old ones from 20+ years ago. Finally he cancelled his subscription as I'm pretty sure some months it went unread. Last year we brought a load of the old ones home from his mum's, but only to go straight into our recycling. I noticed that a stack that had been the garage have also gone. Something changed and finally he was able to part with them without me instigating it.

However, we're now being cluttered with copies of Investor's Chronicle........ Have tried to suggest he keeps just the pages of things he's interested in and put them in a file, he says yes, but still they pile up. Annoyingly, he has all the mags digitally. Some work required on my part I think.

I know that, and so does he, but parting with them is another matter altogether! He also has diving stuff in the attic not used since 2000, skis that haven't been used since 2005...
