Everyone on here is do kind, thank you all.

Not only are you kind, helpful and understanding.

    You are all very motivational

I did all the tights I could find before bed last night. I have a completely full drawer, I genuinely had no idea I had that many pairs, I do love them all. So will wait until all the clothes are done, that way I can let go of some only one pair is plain black all the others are coloured or patterned.

So areas done (but only first pass)
Hanging clothes (that were already on hangers)
Drawers of tops and jeans etc, all already there
    Shoes
Underwear (I can now see what you all mean by the way the knicker drawer makes you smile

Today the chest at the end of the bed, I think there is going to ge a snide ball effect the more I do the more I want to do, and it's making me feel happier

Hope you all gave great days whatever you might be doing

Lara - try Gumtree or Preloved. Both free to use and you can leave items on there until they sell. I find Fleabay too stressful so only use it occasionally.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

The original konmarie thread seems to be still open, can someone please close it?

We are back from 10 days camping in Echternach, Luxemburg. We had a great time and our tent proved worthy resisting a five hour thunderstorm on the second night :D

We threw away an old teatowel and an old dishcloth and dh managed to tear his boxershorts. I completely wore out a pair of shoes and we played 3 badminton rackets to pieces :) I read and left behind 2 books.

Yesterday I did five loads of laundry most was linedried as was the tent, because Yesterday was gorgeous weather , unlike the rest of this week :(.

I came home to a courgette and a marrow on the same plant :)

I am having another pass through the kitchen equipment today I have put a brand new, never opened pasta maker ( a gift, but I am now GF) out to go to the CS which I am sure will put out for sale, and must put a few things on freegle today, we eat much more simply now that we are older, and while dexterity problems mean I have and use load of gadgets, I have bought better quality now or find that some things I can no longer operate, potato ricer and hand mixer that I am unable to eject the whisks from I am looking at you. OH is not always around to do these things and I get so dammed frustrated:(

I noticed yesterday that the CS I have volunteered at no longer has a bric a brac and kitchen section, so I am having to be more discerning where I take things, hence comment above.

Great excitement! I came home to a letter to say THE book was waiting for me in the library, so will be collecting it after work.

I'd also reserved it from the library in the neighbouring local authority area. I've cancelled it but not sure if the reservation will still be charged for.

I made the mistake yesterday of going through some sentimental items belonging to DS, with DS. I wish I'd got him to take them home to sort there, as I found it quite depressing.

On the positive side, we took several bags of his books and CDs to the cs and he is taking one bag home.

The cs I normally donate to was closed so we went to another one. Most of the local ones are difficult to find parking close to do it was handy to have DS with me, as I could wait in the car. The cs got him to sign a Gift Aid form. I don't earn enough to pay tax (I work for a charity!), so that worked well.

I've just dropped a small box of odds and ends off at my usual cs and a charity bag has come through the door, so I need to fill that for collection on Thursday.

Lara- I know it's hard to give up your shoes. Perhaps you can try specialist sites as suggested. If they don't work, would you consider to donate them perhaps to a more specific cause, for example a community project such as a food and clothes bank, or a project which gives interview outfits to the unemployed?
Aaliagh I'm glad the knicker drawer joy has started. Once you get that joy of a small organised area it becomes a bit addictive! I have been going almost 2 years and I am about to do a 3rd major pass. I do think you have to revisit and re-order bits. I've been surprised at where things have move to, once a bit of space is created then some extra bits get moved in, then that works well and at a next pass some other bits move. Bits move in summer/winter. Don't think you have to Kondo once and that's it for ever. Think of it as a hobby or project you have taken up. I've tried a few things that didn't work or didn't suit.
My next refinement is holiday clothes and swimming stuff. It's lobbed in a chest with spare bedding and it's not helpful. There are plenty of options to try, I think bedding is fine in the ottoman and holiday can now go in with "thin" clothes in the under bed storage, swimmers will now fit in the knicker drawer

I need some help!! I KM'd my wardrobe, again, a month ago. Most clothes had labels attached - dont tell husband! After two knee replacements I can no wear the same style shoes. I have over 20 pairs of shoes, mainly Gabor, in their boxes which is how I've always stored my footwear, and in excellent condition. Can't stand unpolished, scruffy footwear! I simply can't bring myself to put in charity shop as last time I did that a new pair of my shoes, boxed, was sold for just £3. I know it's something for the charity but when you've paid £70 for them, price on box and never worn, I just felt very sad that only £3 was raised.
How do I get over this or what else would you suggest I do. I could eBay but footwear doesn't seem to sell. It doesn't fill me with joy giving them to CS even though someone has bought them and happily wearing them no doubt. My brain just won't let them go! Lol.

How about having a charity footwear sale? Invite friends to bring theirs as well, if they have footwear to get rid of and wish to raise money for chairty.. Everyone price their footwear, everyone pay into one collection box, all money to a local chairty?

Have been tidying today. Kitchen looks smart (made a few adjustments to storage and a few minor diy jobs). Some items into CS bag while I whizzed round bedroom - a lovely lightweight dressing gown I was given ages ago but will never wear, a pair of shoes that are too tight (I have plenty of shoes that fit well, why was I keeping a pair that pinch??), a framed picture that has not been displayed for years.....all ready to go and there will be more!

Cleared a few almost empty jars of OOD produce such as lemon tea granules (full of sugar so left untouched). Moved my utensils jar and swapped large fruitbowl to different location. Somehow the room looks brighter now?!

Right, off to try the magic in the LR, wish me luck!

PS - well done to newbies. It is amazing what a difference this MK thing makes to a drawer / a room / a home Mx

Had DS1 start on various piles of paperwork in his room - result is a huge pile into recycling, a small pile for burning - and a pile of 5 textbooks which should have been returned to school a year or more ago set aside for returning next week (results day) Still a shelf left to do and then the remaining 'keep' pile to sort - but it looks so much better already in there! :D

Kitchen looking good, thank goodness. I had to call the emergency gas leak number! I could smell gas in the meter box just outside my door .
Engineer came, found leak, said they have had to replace loads of this, pipework - cheap contrator job. Order has been restored. Glad I could provide engineer with a brew without feeling ashamed of the state of the kitchen :D
LR coming along nicely. I am feeling the need to release more stuff but have been interrupted by demands for dinner to be made ......Don't you just hate it when you are on a roll and someone 'needs' you on another job!

I even tidied the recycling (ie, squashed things more to fit it all in the box :rotfl:).

Repair to light fitting now complete, started a few days ago but needed the filler to 'go off' before the final layer. Used NoMoreNails to affix a key holder to the end of my kitchen units. The thing had been sat on the worktop for weeks and was getting on my nerves, DH ignoring it, so I did it in 2 mins.
I also located picture hooks and hung pretty plate in bathroom. DH came in from work and after grilling me about why a duster was lain near WM (er, could it be that it was about to be put in the wash??), he went upstairs, saw the plate and complained that I had 'put it in the wrong place'. And here was me, all pleased with myself on a productive day.
I am ignoring him now
I confess to suggesting that he go out again and not come back for a while.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
  • Thank you for the Congrats :D

We have been very lucky that my sis in law has had her last little one who is around 9 months old now and is happy to donate all useable things to us for our future little one so we will only be buying a few new things. The KM in me is already a little bit anxious about the amount of lovingly donated stuff which will be coming our way - she is more of a collector and I am more of the minimalist! - she has said that she would be chucking it anyway so I will be making sure to sort through it all with a keen eye as soon as it enters the house!

Wow that's impressive - 4 bundt tins - I admit I did use the Nigella vanilla bundt cake recipe on my one bundt tin trial - it was very yummy but now il be splitting it between 2 loaf tins for future versions.

Not totally KM but had a maternity clothes shop yesterday and bought only the basics to see me through and managed to get a couple from fleabay and a shop sale (and I had a voucher for said shop:p) - Bought a pair of black jeans with bump band, a pair of maternity leggings , one pack tights, one long sleeved black maternity top and a bump band on its own. Managed to get it all for a bargain £21 (trousers alone should have been £30! ) I think this will see me though the remaining Summer/Autumn/winter when layered with my normal clothes. I consider this pretty minimal but then my mum mentions today that she only bought 2 dresses for her whole maternity! I feel like Iv been trumped already :rotfl:
