catshark, we have two properties at the moment too - OH has decided that the best way to Kondo the contents of the smaller one we are living in is to box it all up and put the (unlabelled) boxes into house we're not living in!
Managed to stop him taking a load of my things away this morning - I want to keep them here and sort them not move the problem to deal with another day!
My big desk has been moved into the other house which I'm happy about as I'd always planned to do that and get rid of it after Christmas when I'll have more time. The new bed is ordered and should be delivered next week in time to be assembled ready for friend's visit.
Couldn't believe how much stuff came out of the desk drawers despite having kondoed them a couple of times already. More has gone into recycling and some went into bags for me to sort out gradually over the next few days.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -

I was able to move my desk into it's final position in my office, as the acoustic insulation is finished, and I've painted the bit that's behind the desk (its bright blue!). I'll have to paint the rest of the alcove another time, I'm desperate for a bit of free space. I did MK the 3 desk drawers after I'd positioned the thing - good grief. So much junk! I never believed I had a hot spot (is that flylady terminology? sorry) but I do, it's the top drawer of the desk. Bah humbug! Sorted now, though because the rest of the house is so upside down with all the building work, I can well believe I'll have to do it again.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Another large volume kondoed yesterday, just a very large lovely beanbag, bought for grandchildren to use here but rarely used. A lovely colour combo called beatnik and was relatively expensive. It looks good in their lounge
I got my hospice shop gift aid donations letter yesterday and am happy to say that the amount they received from me, over the year, will make a difference
I almost kondoed some wood to my group this week, put the blocks in the car and took them out just before I left here. Nice wood, will polish up lovely, when carved. I was looking back over the year and at how little time I devoted to the hobby but suddenly realised that the hobby will grow when I get my fully insulated log house workshop built, just got to find the property with the right garden first. I am going to buy a property and only sell when new one is `fit` to live in ie garage soft flooring and all house flooring and any painting done. Thinking ahead, it is too hard to think of moving stuff once in position
Clothes kondo has worked nicely and today I am wearing layers that actually look and feel nice, I did have to buy the top layer which is thin and `bellshaped` but over a LS cream t shirt that I am glad I kept and I won`t be at all embarrassed at answering the doorbell, much better look than chunky0 -
As the weather isn't very good (raining all day) I am having a pottering about at home day. Only just put t'internet on but have been reading and sewing.
Turned over in bed this morning and heard a rip as my nightshirt tore. Closer inspection revealed that this cosy brushed cotton garment had given way along the seam, the fabric not the stitching. It has been mended several times already and, checking with the clothing inventory, I can see I bought it from the Everything 50p chazzer in October 2013. Apart from the warmest weather, it has been in constant use so I have decided to retire it to the rag-bag. Now laundered and will go into the bag when dried.
Some things just kondo themselves, don't they? I have plenty of other jammies/ nightshirts and the extra space in the drawer will enable the rest to be accessed more easily.
Took a bag to the chazzer on Friday, plus another couple of things from the juntique shop on Saturday. Someone has swopped my pal for someone who has suddenly developed an intolerance for clutter...... not sure how this will be sustainable given the nature of his business, but some of the stuff is long past its hoard-by date.:rotfl:
Today I have completed a mending job and started another on kid bruv's shirt. To do that, I needed some woven cotton tape and was able to drop my hands on it in seconds thanks to the major sort-out of the sewing supplies a couple of weeks back. Very pleasing.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Ooh, GQ, I'm looking forward to being able to check out my stash of craft stuff, KM as necessary and integrate the stuff I've brought from my mum's.
At the moment, it's *still* books and papers. And the constant drip drip of KMing has had an effect - previously, I had to have an extra shelf of files, papers and books in an alcove, as well as a small bookcase upstairs and a 6 or 7 foot long, 5 shelf monstrosity in my living room. Now, the extra shelf has gone! It had to be taken down anyway to fit in some insulation, but I don't need to put it back up! That's a shelf about 3 foot long, with lots of A4 papers and boxfiles on. I'm very, very pleased.
Some of it was about storing like with like, and updating, and storing less of some things (I'm retired, I don't need quite so many envelopes! And anyway, everything was done via email). There's still legalese stuff in plastic crates, and some of that might be able to go too, but I just want to get everything set up to be a pleasant place to live (curtains on the windows! Yay!). I only need another half hour before I can get enough clarity to put the rug down2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Love the idea of a "hoard by" date!
Kittie, I don't know if you have already chosen your log cabin, but in case not, we have had one by the Norwegian Log Cabin company and it has been fab. So warm in winter and cool in summer.
I've been through the dvds today. About a bin liner full in volume, but prob need to be in 2 bags due to weight, to go. I hope charity shops take dvds..."Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0 -
When I was over at the juntique shop, my pal took advantage of me being on the shop floor to nip down into the cellar and came back with a few bits, inc a large cardboard box which a tall oscillating type fan had come in. He then sent me upstairs to find the blasted thing (I can find anything, given enough rope).
Found it, tried it and it's a dead appliance so he went off with that for the recycling centre and also the box for cardboard recycling. I have noted a small plantation of fluorescent light tubes, some in the cellar and some in one of the upstairs rooms, which I think I need to package up and get him to cart off to the recycling centre.
Just chatted to the 'rents and have been asked if I know where to find the warranty which came with something they bought 1-2 weeks ago (I do not live under their roof and last visited before this item was purchased.:rotfl:Joke is, I could probably find it in a new york minute if I was over there as I am a past expert of maternal hoarding habits + gravity (it'll be on the floor somewhere near her armchair, I reckon).Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
